Taehyung was sent out to get some late night groceries, normally he makes dinner for the two but there wasn't too much to cook with. 

There was, the truth is. Jeongguk had shoved everything into one cupboard. 

He wanted tae to leave, not like that. He wanted Tae out the house so he could make dinner. He felt like it was finally time to confess.

He didn't just like Taehyung.

He loved Taehyung.

He loved Taehyung a lot. He just had never told him, and he felt so awful for not doing so. It's just he has never said it before. To anyone, ever. It was so alien to him. He's never heard it with a meaning and he for sure has never said it with any if he has.

He grew up with an unloving family, so to him love did not exist. Until he met Kim Taehyung. His only exception.

He had sent Taehyung to a store ages away and knowing how policing everything was in that area he had around two to three hours to cook the best goddamn meal Taehyung had ever eaten.

Which, as the golden child he was, he sure fucking did.

He set up everything so well. He had a full speech. The food was perfect it was on the table and everything was candle lit. Music was playing. He even prepared with a promise ring, a promise that one day, he will replace it with a different one.

The door opened.

His breathing started fucking up. 

What the fuck. Why is he so scared?

"Ggukie?" He heard a little voice at the door. His heart swelled.

"Baby bear?"

"Why is everything so dark.?"

Shit. Right. "The power went out it will be on soon" don't lie dipshit.

"Ooh okay. One sec I'll be right up to make food."

Jeongguk frowned. He hated when Taehyung could only think only of doing things for him.

"I'll be waiting for a kiss first." he stated proudly.

"Y- yah! dont say stuff like th-that without warning" Taehyung's voice was closer.

"But I want to"

"You are too—" Taehyung cut himself off. Dinner was made. And- and there were candles everywhere. And there was music.

"Wh-what's happening?"

"Sit down first gorgeous."

Taehyung's anxiety heightened. Was Jeongguk about to breakup with him? Was this a special last meal.?

It was visible to Gguk.

"Tell all your scared thoughts to buzz off first though."

Tae relaxed and sat down.

Jeongguk breathed in and out before speaking,

"First of all. The power didn't go out it was me making up an excuse for the darkness."

"I figured."

"Okay now to the important part. Taehyung, I was brought up in probably the most dysfunctional household ever. Everything was so uncomfortable, because we never expressed our feelings, there was this day when I was about 6 when I realised that in my family love was not a thing, from there on out, i always would say that love does not exist. I'd never date anyone, because to me nothing ever was worth the risk, but then I met you. You are my only exception Kim Taehyung. I love you. Jesus fuck. I'm so in love with you, You're so amazing I don't understand how i'm dating you–"

"I love you too. Jeon Jeongguk, I am in love with you too." they kissed and it was precious.

Jeon got out the box and he chuckled when he saw Taehyung's startled face. "I'm not proposing just yet, don't worry. Kim Taehyung. I have never. ever. felt this way before and I am now addicted to it you are the most impeccable human being I have ever met. So this ring is a promise, that one day I'll replace it. With something better."

He slipped the ring on Taehyung's finger and they kissed once more, it took them everything to look away. But they did, so they could gorge on this feast before them. 

They had a good dinner and went back to Jeongguk's room, where they cuddled, as Tae fell asleep the other just looked at him with fond eyes and kissed the ring on his finger.
