( noun )
a profound change in one's life── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ──
KAITO MCCOY HAS HAD a recurring dream for as long as she can remember. She's standing in an all-white area of space, not quite a room because she's in a place where walls do not exist, but more of a pocket of nothing. The only other living person besides herself has consistently been a boy with a crooked jaw and kind brown eyes. They've never swapped names — names do not exist in the dream, either — but she has an undeniable sensation that she knows him despite never meeting him in real life.
That changes when Kai moves to Beacon Hills halfway through tenth grade. At first, she assumes that the tiny town will be just like the other temporary homes she's moved to throughout the years. Traveling from foster home to foster home doesn't give her much time to make friends. It's easier that way— make no attachments and you won't get hurt. Only when she'd met her new locker neighbor on her first day of school, she'd been in for a paralyzing shock. She'd recognize his face anywhere. The same crooked jaw, the same kind eyes...
She'd met her Dream Boy. Literally.
Determined as she'd been to stay out of her academic peers' lives as she always had, Kai hadn't been able to resist Scott McCall's overwhelming magnetism that attracts troubled kids to him. She'd listened. She'd learned. And she'd slipped notes into Scott's locker whenever she could, hoping that her findings would help him out.
The members of his friend group are individuals who seem like they would hardly get along. An alpha werewolf. A phantom. A banshee. A kitsune. A phoenix. A were-coyote. A human. They're all jagged and mismatched edges, but when put together, the pieces fit like a perfect puzzle— one in which there doesn't seem to be any room for Kai.
Not that she minds. Kai is content with staying on the sidelines of the pack, watching from afar as they struggle to figure out who their mystery Good Samaritan is. But when she'd finally been caught slipping a note into his locker, she'd been physically roped into their shenanigans whether she liked it or not.
She's never had close friends. But maybe — just maybe — she can make this one exception. Maybe this time it'll be worth the pain of leaving.
DOMINIC SHIRE DOESN'T KNOW how much more of this bullshit he can handle. Since he'd discovered the existence of the supernatural at the age of five, his life has never known peace. He and his friends have seemingly fought off the year's troubles and retained order in their town after his boyfriend had been possessed by an evil spirit that had wreaked havoc for months.
