(Deejay POV)

Don't know why I came, In this club with you girl, Don't know why I came here with these diamonds on my chain,
Surrounded by bad b*tchez I can't get'em out my face, is it cus a nigga handsome and wealthy...

I sung along with the words to my favorite migos tune, doing 65 in a 40. I overslept which made me half an hour late for my Freshman Orientation at Johnson and Wales and being late is something I hate to do.

Ever since my Grandma told me that nobody in the family graduated from college. I made it my Goal to graduate college and achieve even greater things, so I took up a major in Culinary Arts. I Like food and I Love to eat so why not cook for a living?

I Pulled up in the student parking lot, gathered my things, and rushed to the orientation room. I walked through the doors to the orientation room and all eyes were on me. I took a seat closer to the back of the room because It was a lot of Freshman and I had to be the only one late.

"Uhh excuse me young.. lady who just walked in. Please stand up, say your name and major." The tall instructor demanded. I'm guessing he Hesitated because I Look like a boy. I'm 6 feet even with a smooth caramel tone complexion. Light brown eyes and long honey brown dreads reaching my lower back.

I looked around the room and everyone was looking at me. I hated being in the center of attention. So I took a deep breath then stood up slowly.

"My name is.. Deja Jamison, or Deejay for short and uhh.. My major is Culinary arts." I spoke nervously then sat down quickly. I Always hated speaking in front of crowds.

"Alright Ms. Jamison, if you want to make it in the Food industry, I suggest you set your clock back an hour." He said sternly. Some kids were laughing at his mediocrity. I was a whole 30 minutes late, this is my first day and I'm already making a bad first impression.

"As I was saying You all have your schedules and since its Thursday and we do not have classes on Fridays enjoy your weekend. All of you staying in our dorms, I suggest you get all settled in before your classes start next week." He continued.

"And Ms. Jamison since you missed half the lecture. You should ask your peers and catch up. But anyways thank you all for choosing Johnson & Wales to start your Career." He finished. Everyone started to pour out of the room heading separate ways. I didn't care what the lecture was about I just Wanted to get to my dorm. I chose to stay on campus to get out on my own finally and meet new people.

I Walked to the University Center where the Flamingo Hall was located also the Dormitory I would be staying in. It was Cozy, it had a very warm feeling to it and that's why I chose it. Everything was also close by like the library, cafeteria, and school store.

I stepped into the elevator and pushed the button for the third floor. The elevator door began closing until someone's small hand stopped it and it opened again.

"I'm sorry.. You're going to 3?" She asked. She was cute. Alot Shorter than me, light skinned, beautiful curly jet black hair just passing her shoulders and light green eyes that compliments her skin tone.

"Uh yeah, I am." I replied.

"You're a freshman?" She inquired. The elevator doors closed.

"Yeah actually I am and I'm going to my dorm now. Uhh 315.. can you take me in the right direction?" I asked confusingly looking at a paper with the school map.

"Wow you're two doors down from mine. I'll Show you where it is. Umm my name is Naomi I'm a sophomore here." She introduced herself.

"I'm Deja, but just call me Deejay." We shook hands then the elevator doors opened to the 3rd floor.
