My name is Shun Kaido. I am a second year at PK Academy. I have a few friends and I'm kinda a nerd. But recently, I think I started liking my best friend, Aren Kuboyasu. It's a long story. We became friends shortly after he started attending our school. He saved me from some bullies, so I started hanging out with him. He's a very brash guy and is pretty scary sometimes but... I dunno.
"Shun!" Aren called. We were going to get together at the park that afternoon after school. "Hey, Aren." I smiled. "Are we still going to the park?" He asked. I nodded. Do you know what it feels like to like your best friend? It sucks. You want to tell them so bad, but it would ruin your relationship. "Oh yeah, but we have to walk home together, so I don't have to lie to my mom." I said awkwardly.
He looked at me. "I'm down. We walk home together every day." My mom was strict about school and homework and such. "Sweet." I said nonchalantly. I tried to seem cool about everything. Nobody paid much attention to me, so I think that's what it is.
"Shun, you comin'?" Aren said at the doorway. "Uh, yeah! Just a second!" I replied. I rushed towards him. "Let's go." he started walking forward. I followed. After a while, we were sitting on a bench in the park. "Weird question: what would you think if a close friend was gay?" he blurted out of nowhere. "Um, I guess I'd support them. What about you, Aren?" He stared into the distance. "What if I was that friend?" he asked, completely ignoring my question. Is he telling me something?
"Aren, are yo--"
"No, of course not." he blushed.
He is. Definitely.
But what about me? Am I gay?
"I'd support you, Aren."
He looked at me and quickly turned away.
Did he like me? Me? No, of course not.
"Shit, you gotta go home, man!" Aren said after checking his watch. "Oh, bye, Aren! See ya tomorrow!" I started to run home.
