"I really don't know how much longer I can do this!" you shrieked, tears about to flow down your face. Just as you were about to give up, the sound of the timer on your phone resonated in your bedroom.
"Remind me to not do planks again. I despise them. Whoever created them should burn." Sitting up, you grabbed your phone from the ground and dramatically made your way to your bed.
"Y/N, it wasn't even that bad. We literally just started the workout." your friend, Taehyung stated.
"That right there is the problem. We started."
"Please Y/N, you promised you would try this with me."
"And I did. I tried it, now I'm done."
"You planked for a minute."
"A minute too long. So have you know, I will never get that minute back."
Taehyung gave up and sat down next to you on the bed. Ignoring his presence, you began scrolling on your phone. Summer was just starting and you needed ideas of what to do. Going to the beach with a group of friends has always been on your bucket list. The only problem with that was, well, the friend part. It's easy to count the number of friends you've had in your lifetime on one hand, one finger to be exact. It's not like shyness was the problem when it came to making friends. You just hate everyone. They're all self-centered and don't give two shits about how you actually feel. Taehyung has been the only exception to this. He's been the one person that has stood by your side no matter what. He's never lied to you, never tried anything to hurt you, and he's always stood up for you. He's your best friend. A finger poking at your side snapped you out of your thoughts.
"You know I'm still here right?" Taehyung stuck his bottom lip out and looked you straight in the eyes.
"If you don't want to be, you know where the door is. You can leave at any time." Rolling your eyes, you focused back on your phone. This summer was going to be the best one yet. School was no longer a problem and Taehyung would actually be spending time with you instead of going on vacation the whole summer.
"Y/N come on. I came here to spend time with you, not for you to spend time on your phone." he poked at your sides again.
"We worked out, now I'm tired. Are you not going to let me rest?" you pouted.
"You worked out for a minute, you don't need to rest."
"UGHHHHH. Fineeeeeeeeeee" you sighed. "Why did you even want to work out anyways? It's unlikely for you to want to do anything that requires physical activity."
To this, he just chuckled. "Y/N, you're talking about yourself."
"I am not!"
"Yes you are Y/N, we've been over this before. You don't like anything that requires you to get out of bed."
Looking at him in shock, you decided he had crossed the line. A smirk spread on your face as an idea popped into your head.
"What? Did you finally realize I'm right?" he pretended to flip his hair over his shoulders and laughed. You took this as the perfect opportunity to attack. Jumping over to him, you started to attack his sides and stomach. His laughter filled the room as you continued to tickle him.
"Y/N, I- I'm sorry. Pl-ease stop!" Taehyung choked out between fits of laughter.
"Not until you admit you're wrong!"
"I'm so-rry!"
You stopped tickling him to give him a chance to breathe. "For what?"
It took him a minute to respond as he had to recover from your brutal attack. "For telling you the truth." He immediately jumped up and ran out of your bedroom.
"You better run Kim Taehyung! If I catch you, you're gonna regret it!" Getting off the bed, you began to chase him. If he thinks he can escape you, he has another thing coming for him. The paintings on the wall walls were a blur as you sped past them, determined to make Taehyung pay for what he said.
After what felt like forever, the chase finally ceased when both of you flopped on the couch. You were panting, trying to catch your breath, as Taehyung laughed at you.
"Looks like I got you to get out of bed after all," he smirked, "you ran for a whole five minutes! Congratulations!" To this, you just hit his arm.
"If you're just gonna be a smartass you can leave." you glared at him.
He began laughing again at the sight of you being so serious. Arms wrapped around you and engulfed you in a hug. Giving in, you hugged him back. Moments like this remind you of why you don't hate ALL people, just most. Moments like these remind you of why it can be nice to have somebody in your life. They provide comfort. They provide warmth. As if it was on cue, Taehyung's phone began to ring.
"I'm sorry, I should take this." With that, Taehyung got up and left the room. To prevent yourself from growing bored, you turned on the tv and flipped through the channels. Nothing really caught your interest, so you turned the tv off and took out your phone. Maybe you'd actually be able to figure out what you could do this summer now that you didn't have an annoying Taehyung poking at your side. You opened google and searched up fun summer activities. Pictures of beaches popped up along with parks and pools. The idea of having a picnic at the beach seemed like it could be a blast. If Taehyung doesn't agree with the idea, tricking him into coming always works. You continued to look up ideas of what to do, but Taehyung's voice caught your attention.
"I'm sorry, I'll figure it out. How was I supposed to know?!"
You figured Taehyung was on the phone with his parents. They always seem to pick a fight with him over little things. When he was younger, he used to come over all of the time because he couldn't stand being with his parents. You were always there for him when he needed you, and he did the same for you.
"Hey Tae, is everything alright?"
Taehyung walked back into the room with an unreadable face. "Yea, I need to go though. I'll text you when I get the chance."
"Okay?" You got up to give him a hug goodbye, but he was already out the door. It was a sudden end to the day. Deciding to let it go, you picked up your phone and headed back to your room. On the way there, you noticed a picture was slanted, probably from the chase you had with Taehyung before. When you fixed it you realized it was a picture of you and Taehyung when you were younger. The two of you were swinging next to each other on a set of swings with the brightest smiles plastered on your faces. You were both so innocent and small; it made your heart melt. A smile crept onto your face as you walked into your room. This boy, as stupid as he can be, is one of the most gentle and kind human beings on the planet. You truly don't know where you would be without him.
