The day you find your world turned upside down is the day you realize that all your life problems weren't so bad. And that basically sums up my life at the vulnerable age of a 16-year-old girl. But, you're probably wondering what in the world a girl at the old age of 16 would have to worry about. Well, you would be surprised at the amount of stuff going on in my life, however, I should start at the beginning so as not to spoil anything.

My name is Angelina Myers, but most call me Jean. For me, life is pretty normal, if you consider having "monsters" as your parent's normal. My mother Sophia is a vampire, and my father Mason a werewolf. I have three siblings all younger than me. Charles (vampire, 15), May (werewolf, 14), and little adopted brother of 5, Bowe (warlock). I, on the other hand, have nothing special about me. Seriously. Apparently, I was found abandoned outside my parent's house on the sidewalk when I was a baby, but I was "just too cute" to get rid of. So now I'm the oldest sibling of a monster family. It's not too bad, considering that most of my family could eat me at any given moment(it only happened twice when my siblings were younger).

It's strange, knowing what I know. The monster community blends in pretty well, considering. My mom and dad both have jobs part-time jobs in the world of mankind, so as to not spark any suspicion. The rest of their time is dedicated to keeping their family safe and a secret. I'm the exception to the rules. For the greater part of the last century, monsters have tried to keep a low profile, otherwise, people might either be scared, or worse...curious. My parents were able to convince the "Council of Secretary" to keep me. I guess the council was also intrigued by the idea of how long a human would survive in a monster's world. I don't think the council would have agreed to allow me to stay if they knew I would have lived this long (and continue to live).

I grew up with the knowledge of the existence of monsters, but have actually never had the chance to learn alongside them in school. I have always been homeschooled by my parents and a tutor. But that was all about to change...

"Mom.Dad. I want to go to Ravens Peak Academy...for monsters." My palms began to sweat in anticipation.
"But darling" my Mom began to say, "don't you realize how dangerous that could be?"
To be honest, I had thought about it, but I didn't care. I was tired of being left out of the world that my family lived in, and this was as any good time to start living.
"I think she should attend." I turned to my father who had uttered the words, and tears fell down my cheeks.
"Do you really mean it Dad? Like, seriously mean it, pinky promise mean it?"
"Yes, my sweets. I think it's about time we let you see what our world's all about. What do you say, mom?"
My mom frowned for a couple of seconds which I knew was her "thinking face". Then, she finally spoke, "Fine. But I want to talk to the school board about safety precautions and make sure she will be more protected. Got it?"
That night I lay in my bed dreaming about my accomplishment of finally asking my parents to go to Ravens Peak. Even though my stomach felt like I had swallowed 1,000 bees, I was going to high school for the first time...with monsters.
