Losing My Brother

Stephen and Andy had been best friends for the past 8 years. When Stephen had first met Andy he was being bullied by his own friend group in high school. However, as the two of them talked he realized that the guy was alright. He was funny and had so much potential with the songs he would write using his guitar. 

It was on that day Stephen decided he didn't care what everyone said about Andy. The two of them became inseparable. Most importantly they were there for each other. Heartbreaks, money problems, you name it, the two were as close as friends can be. 

5 years had passed since high school. On this one particular morning Stephen learned a horrible fact. His friend who was notorious for meeting girls and sleeping with them was actually taking advantage of girls in high school. Shocked and horrified he couldn't believe what he was hearing. He had always spotted him talking to girls at parties but he never once thought his friend would do something this sinister. Stephens heart was broken. He didn't know what to do. He was still his friend, but what he was doing wasn't okay. Now currently stressing about the situation Stephen knee he needed to confront Andy.

"Andy!" Stephen called out. "We need to talk. Rather than asking if it was true he decided to get straight to the point and shouted, "Why are you getting with girls who are underaged?!" 

Andy knew he was caught. With a saddened look in his eyes he responded with, "They're more fun." 

The words rang in Stephens' head. "What are you thinking!? Do you want to go to jail? Do you want to get registered as a sexual offender? I'm pretty sure that's considered child pornography if they send you naked photographs!" Stephen could feel his temper rising. Unfortunately he couldn't stop himself. He was disappointed in his friend. For the first time he was starting to believe what everyone had always said about his friend, that he was "No good" and "a horrible person."

"Andy if you don't stop I swear to god we are done!" Stephen yelled. Instead of getting angry Andy started to cry, "I'm sorry I won't do it anymore I swear."

Fast forward a month and Stephen watched as his friend continued to meet these girls. This would be the hardest thing he'd have to do. He cut his friend out of his life. Leaving behind all of the pleasant memories they had ever shared. All the times Andy had been there for him. It was all in the past. Stephen knew he had to do the right thing. 

He wrote a letter explaining what was going on and sent it to Andy and his family. A week later Andy ended up in Jail. The police had finally caught him. Andy's life was officially over and so was their friendship.
