"I will not buy a bottle of vodka for 20 bucks. Never ever", I pouted, took the very overpriced bottle of Vodka Gorbatschow out of Elijah's hand and but it back into the fridge.
"Yes, it's literally so much cheaper when you buy it at the grocery store", Helen agreed and added: "we're getting drunk on a budget."

We were standing inside a very small tobacco shop in this sort of small town in the middle of germany, which was known for selling hard liquor, tobacco and things similar to that to people under eighteen.

Elijah rolled his eyes: "Are any of us eighteen though? The answer is no. We can only get it here."
His voice sounded like he was trying to lecture two five year olds and not us, a sixteen and a just-turned-seventeen year old girl, aka my best friend Helen and me.

"Yeah no shit, Elijah. But it's a no from me. Unless you want to pay for it of course", I smirked, knowing damn well that he was just as broke as Helen and I.
"We'll find someone who's old enough and also cool enough to buy us some alcohol somewhere else", Helen said and with that we left the small tobacco store.

We decided to walk to the grocery store nearby and during this five minute walk there was a silence between us.
Everyone followed their own train of thoughts. I personally was just enjoying the sun warming my skin and the clear summer air I was inhaling.
Since summer break started yesterday our plan originally was to do a picknick in the afternoon, buy some booze, lay down by the river and get drunk.
That didn't work out in the end though. Since I only had two hours of sleep the night before my little after-school-nap turned into a very very big and long after-school-nap and I found myself waking up at 9pm. So we decided to postpone our plans to today.

"Here we are", Helen pointed out as we entered the grocery store.
"Let's get sushi!", I yelled excited when I saw that they basically had an entire section just for that. I loved sushi - only the vegetarian options, though. They both nodded in excitement and everyone picked out one set.
"Can't forget the chopsticks", Elijah chuckled and took one pair for each of us.

"Now for the hard part", I murmured as we arrived at the drinks section, "There's literally nobody here."
"No look, over there", Helen whispered and slightly pointed towards a guy who was standing in front of the wine section. He was tall and had a slender figure, not to mention his beautiful outfit. His pink corduroy pants, grey sneakers and his simple white oversized shirt just looked good. Simple, but good. His back was facing us, so I wasn't able to see his face, but his hair had a nice warm brown tone, was a little longer and curly.

"Do you think he's eighteen, though? He's not looking at the liquors so who knows", I responded quietly.
"I don't know, he might be", added Elijah, "How about Helen and I go pay for the sushi and wait outside while you ask this guy if he'd be so nice to buy us some Vodka?"
"But why do I have to-"
They had already rushed off.

I rolled my eyes and started walking towards the guy, whose back was still facing me.
I hesitantly tapped on his shoulder: "Excuse me, are you eighteen by any chance?"
He turned around, a sly smirk on his face:
"No, but I have a fake ID."
"Well, does it, like, work? Have you ever successfully bought alcohol with this?", I asked, just to be sure.

"Hey hey hey, nobody said anything about me buying you alcohol", his smirk grew.
"Then I'm going to officially ask you", I looked at his fake ID for some sort of name, "Christopher Brown, will you buy me a bottle of Vodka, please?"
"You were asking so politely, I have to say yes, I guess", he smirked before adding "my real name's Timothée by the way, but don't tell that to the cashier."

"Great, thanks Timotheé", I smiled at him and took a bottle of Vodka out of the shelf in front of me, "I'm Alma."
"Also, to answer your other question: we'll see, it always depends but I sure hope so because I really need some new tobacco. Mine's very much empty."

I gazed down at his fingers which were nervously fidgeting with each other. I don't know why, but his hands were very attractive. They were not too big, not too small, not too veiny. They looked soft. And the best part: he wore rings.

"Are you this shocked by a boy who smokes or why are you literally not saying anything right now?", he grinned at me.
"Why would I be shocked, we're in Germany, I have seen worse. And I was just looking at your rings, I like them."

My gaze went up to his face, which I hadn't really studied so far. This man looked like he was straight out of a renaissance painting. His eyebrows were prominent, his jawline sharp. He looked unique, but beautiful. I loved his eye color, it was a mix between green, blue and grey, I could even see some yellow-ish sports.
"Okay, lets go then", I cleared my throat and walked to the cashier with him.

"Am I gonna need to woory that you'll get drunk alone?", Timothée sceptically raised an eyebrow when we were standing in line.
"No, my friends are waiting outside. They made me talk to you because I'm just the most convincing", I winked.
"Well you did convince me", he answered while picking up a pack of gum and placing it on the belt where tobacco, filters and the bottle of Vodka had already found their place.

"What a healthy purchase", I giggled while the cashier was scanning all the items.
"ID please", they said and Timothée pulled out his fake ID with such a confidence that you could only think it's real. This definetly wasn't his first time using it.
"Thanks."
With that, the cashier gave him back the plastic card and continued to say "That would be 20,35 please."

When we had finally left the grocery store with all of our items I immediately spotted Helen and Elijah. As soon as they saw us, they came over.
"This took you guys a while", Elijah sighed and tried to act annoyed, but his lips were forming a small smile, so did Helen's.

"Well, now we're here", I shrugged my shoulders and smiled as well while taking the glass bottle that Timothée had clasped under his arm. He wasn't focusing on us, instead he was fully concentrated on spreading tobacco on the paper, putting the filter on it aswell, then licking the edge and rolling it together. After that he finally looked up.
"What?"

"Oh it's nothing. Thanks stranger for helping us", Helen responded and smiled at him brightly.

"Timothée, how old are you really?", I asked out of curiosity, "and also, why have I never ever seen you around here?"

"I'm seventeen, turning eighteen this december", he said while fishing a lighter out of the pocket of his trousers, the cigarette in the corner of his mouth causing him to mumble.
"Oh so we're the same age", Elijah responded.
"I guess so."
Timothée lit his cigarette and inhaled and puffed out the smoke before he continued to talk: "And I just moved here from the states last week, that's why you have probably never seen me before."

"Then why is your german this good?", Helen asked.
"I've lived here the first eleven years of my life, so I obviously know the language. My only accomplishment in school is actually being trilingual without ever really learning how to speak german, english or french."

"Can't relate", I giggled, "I am the absolute worst in french."
"Maybe I can teach you someday", he suggested before putting the cigarette between his lips, inhaling deeply and letting the smoke escape.
Not going to lie, this was attractive. Very attractive.

"Do you know anybody around here then?", Elijah asked.
"No, not really."
"Well, you seem like a nice guy Timothée, so why don't you hangout with us? I promise we're fun to be around and you might even get some free sushi", Helen said and pointed towards Elijah, "This is Elijah", she proceeded to point at herself, "I'm Helen", then she pointed at me, "and you already know Alma."

Timothée laughed: "Who in their right mind says no to free sushi? And you can call me Timmy if you want to, it's shorter."
With that he took the last puff of his cigarette and threw it into the ashtray.
"Let's go then."
