“En garde!” The people call and begin to lunge at each other, lances moving in a blur. The duo launch into head on combat. It’s amazing! Their skill and agility... it’s just mind boggling!

“Halt!” A girl yells and the fighters freeze. “Hello. Welcome to Fencing Club. Would you like to join? It’s a little late for new comers but you’re always welcome!” She said in a high voice as she strolled over to us.

The girl was small with blinding white hair. Her eyes were violet. They had a fierce edge to them and seemed to scream ‘Challenge me.’  I do not want to fence against her. Most likely, she was in grade 10. Three years older than us. At least she seems nice.

It’s early in the morning. The sun is just starting to stream through the tiny windows in the ‘arena’; if you can call it that... My group (Including Luckas) have met up for training today. These are our final hours until the battle.

“Um, we were actually just looking for some lessons on hand to hand combat. We won’t be needing long term training. Our situation is um... different. Oh!  And I’m Brook by the way.” I introduce myself.

“Nice too meet you Brook, and others.” She directs her voice over my shoulder. “I’m Eleanor. That’s Louis and Paul over there. They’re the only ones who like to get a head start with their training. Would you like to quickly talk in private?” Eleanor asks.

“Yes. That’d be awesome. Can Anna and Triston come too? Their kinda important.” I say and motioning towards the pair.

“Of course.” Eleanor starts to walk off and we follow.

“You guys can just sit and do something. Make sure Luckas doesn’t run away.” I whisper too Riley before I continue with the three.

“Yes mam!” He mocks.

Rolling my eyes and run up too Triston. “So I’m only kinda important now?” He asks; a smirk clear on his face.

I playfully shove him and roll my eyes again. It was astounding how calm everyone is. This could be the last day we all live and it seems like business as usual! Even though we are going to go learn spells after this...

The four of us reach the ‘office’; which was pretty much a gap in the wall with a door, a desk and chairs.  “Have a seat.” Eleanor offers and we sit side by side. “So I take it you’re not looking to join our club?” She asks, disappointment leaking into her voice.

“Um... No. I wish we could but... we kinda just need the basics. My friends and I might not be around to finish any serious training.” I say. I don’t know if I can trust her with anything. But there is no doubt in my mind that she will be confused by our one day fighting spree.

“All right? Care to elaborate?” Eleanor questions. Her voice was growing edgy.

“Eleanor, you seem like a very nice girl. We don’t want you to get hurt... Okay. I sound like we’re in a gang. Which is probably what you’re thinking, right? Well we’re not so stop looking so scared please. We just can’t tell you.” Anna said. She was working her charm; with glowing eyes.

Eleanor’s face darkens. “You’re part of them aren’t you?” She whispers. I’m stunned. Where is this going?

“Part of who?” Triston asks, speaking for the first time. His voice is calm, but I can feel the tension radiating off of him.

“The Worshipers of Eagon. Get out of my studio.” She hisses. I stare at her. She knows! How does she know?

“No! We’re not! Since you clearly know what’s coming, I want you to sit down and let us explain.” Anna persuades. This time her words work.
