Chapter 4

Gun opened slowly his eyes, woken up by some noises behind "his" room's door. He got out of the bed warily, scared of making any sounds. Off had not pulled him out of his sleep as he had told him, and he found it weird. Did he have to go out of his room or should he wait for the boss to come get him ? He checked if the door was unlocked, and it was the case. He walked out of the bedroom on tip-toes. He went to the stairs and noticed a man in the kitchen that he had never seen before. He was visibly cooking something, and the good smell of pastries came to him, making him even more hungry than what he was when he woke up. He turned his head and perceived Off sitting on the sofa of the giant living room, a cup of coffee in one hand, his newspaper in the other. Gun hesitated for some minutes and decided to go back in his room, and to wait until the boss gave him a sign.

He had to admit it. He was terrified. He was in a very bad position and he did not know if he will survive. He had to keep a low profile and trust GMM. He was sure the plan will be a success.

He got out of his thoughts when he saw Off on the door recess. He was staring at him with strange eyes, and was holding a plate containing what was probably be his breakfast.

"Eat that quickly, we leave in less than one hour. Dom will bring you your outfit and your member card. Today you'll work at my office."

He left the room and the guy he saw earlier in the kitchen appeared with an outfit in his arms. He put it down on his bed and patted Gun's head with a soft smile.

"Next time, join us for the breakfast, no need to go back to your room !" He winked with a soft smile.

Gun blushed and looked away. They saw him... He felt ridiculous.

"I know Off looks scary, but he is not that bad when you know him. It is just that when he wants something, he gets it. You're not the first one being recruited that way, I do not know if you know her, but Mook was the girlfriend of an enemy of the boss. We kidnapped her as a revenge of a crime they've committed, and at the end, she stayed with us. She is now a real member of the gang, and Off trusts her fully. I'm just saying that so you know things will be fine. You're a lot younger than any Off's employees, so I think he will go easy on you. Soon you'll be a real member of our family !"

He stopped and as he was not receiving any answer, he smiled again with kindness. He patted his head gently and advised him to eat quickly. Before leaving, he affirmed he could ask him anything at anytime since he was taking care of the boss and of his house.

A few minutes later, Gun was sitting next to Off in a luxury car, P'Dom as their driver. The boss did not pay that much of attention to him, he was on the phone with probably an important and rich person.

"Dom, stop by the bank first, I need to see someone."

"Sure Boss."

That was the only conversation the three men had during the whole way to the destination. Gun was feeling pretty uncomfortable but he was not trying to hide it. He knew he was an excellent actor, he could fake a cry or look vulnerable when he was actually way braver than what he appearance could make people think. And it seemed like Off fell for it already.

"We're arrived" Said Dom while stopping the car.

"Good, I'm on time. I let you explain to Gun what he will be doing for the next few days, I'll be back in a short time."

He got out of the car without even looking at the young boy. Was he doing it on purpose ? Or did he understand he was acting the whole time ?

"Okay... So today you will work with a woman called Alice, she is Off's secretary. You won't do many difficult tasks, you will probably be with trainees. I don't know if you're aware of that, but Off isn't only the leader of an important gang, he is first of all the boss of one of the biggest company of the country. You should consider yourself as a very lucky person for having the chance to work for him."
