I never planed for it to be like this, actually I honestly never even thought it would happen.
It was some random day when my friend Hallie decided she wanted to go shopping with me. We weren't even that close anymore but it was a Friday night and I didn't have any plans, Twitter was an option for me but not for my mom, she wanted me to spent more time outside with "real" people. I spent the whole night quiet, listening to her ramble about her new boyfriend. God she so annoying sometimes.
-Bella ! Arabella!
-what? And don't call me Bella, I like my full name I've told you a hundred times.
-whatever, are you even listening to me?
-yes you were talking about your beautiful boyfriend
-that was like 5 minutes ago Bella
-oh then I guess not
-I told you that we're going to the new Chesterfield mall. I've never been to it, but I heard it's pretty cool
-oh okay then, sounds good to me.
We walked to the mall, while she continued to yap about her boyfriend. When we entered I immediately noticed it was clean, organized, and mostly empty aside from a few wonderers. Hallie instantly squeaked and ran to the nearest shop. I followed, dragging my feet into the pink, frilly store.
-Can we go to Hot Topic after?
-No Bella, you have to help me find a perfect dress for my date with Caleb.
She literally tried on more than fifty dresses, in 10 different stores, but at last she finally found her dress.
-can we please go now? I'm really tired.
I said this as an excuse to leave this freaking empty mall.
-Sure, just let me go to one more store. If you want you can wait here for me.
I reluctantly agreed and sat on one of the sofa, putting in my headphones and fidgeting with my phone. I looked around a little, the mall was mostly empty besides for a few individuals lingering around. Across from me was the food court, I was hungry so I decided to go get something to eat, there was a McDonald's, Panda Express, pizza hut and some other food stands. I felt in the mood for french fries so I obviously went to McDonald's, after I ordered I looked for a place to sit down. On the east side of the court there was only one person I could see so I headed that way. I sat a few seats away from the brunette boy, but I faced him. Hallie texted me saying she would be longer than she thought because "the dresses were just Soooo cute!!". I sighed and focused on my French fries enjoying the salty taste.For some reason I zoned out, and when i came to I realized i had been staring at the brunette boy that was sitting a few seats away. I focused a little more on him and it took me less than 5 seconds to recognize his silhouette. My body began to shake, my palms got sweaty, and my mind began to wonder with so many questions. I focused on his face and his expression seemed crestfallen. He was sad, I could tell, and I felt the pain in his eyes.I didn't know what to do, after a few minutes I decide I had to go up to him, so I did.
-um heeeeyy Shawn are you okay?
"REALLY??! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! WHY DID YOU SAID THAT?! STUPID MIND STOP PLAYING GAMES WITH ME" I Thought
-oh hey, yeah I'm okay
The he smiled at me
"SHAWN MENDES JUST SMILED AT ME I'M GOING TO CRY! NO ARABELLA KEEP YOUR SHIT TOGETHER"
-are you sure? You can tell me you know..it's okay to not be okay sometimes, but if you don't want to tell me that's alright too.
He didn't talk for a while, he was just looking at me. I genuinely thought I fucked everything up.
