Chapter 6: The Sucky Outdoors

Callie's POV

I was sleeping peacefully on my bed, dreaming of D.J, until I hear my alarm started to buzz.

Groan softly as I sit up after turning off my alarm and stretch a bit. I look out my window and see it's sunny, that's odd usually the sun rises. Unless... Oh my god, I overslept!

I quickly jumped out of my bed and go to the bathroom for a quick shower, then change into my uniform for today's challenge, and brush my teeth. Finally, I made my french toast and eat it before rushing out of the cottage.

It's a good thing that my dad told me that we're meeting at the campfire area.

I make my way to the campfire area and see all of the campers are there already, waiting for my dad to start.

"Ah, there you are, what took you so long?" My dad asked. I panted a bit to catch my breath then replied: "I kinda stayed up texting Caleb again...". I heard my dad chuckles softly then hand me a bottle of water "next time, don't stay up too late, okay?". I nodded to him then drink my water bottle.

"Alright campers, now it's time to begin our challenge," My dad said to the campers, "campers today's challenge will test your outdoor survival skills".

"I'm not going to lie to you, some of you may not come back alive," My dad said, scaring the campers. "Dad" I gently hit his shoulder as he chuckles "I'm kidding, just joking".

All you have to do is to spend one night in the woods, everything you need is at your campsite in the forest. You just have to find it."I look over at my dad and he takes out a map and a compass for each team. "Screaming Gophers, you'll be taking my daughter today and if shes hurt tonight I will make sure y'all will end up in the hospital tomorrow morning, okay?" my dad narrows his eyes at them.

I frowned a bit, I won't be with D.J and this team.

But on the other hand, I get to be with Gwen and LeShawna

"Oh and watch out for bears, lost a couple of interns and pre-production," my dad said with a smile. I squeal a bit to myself as I backed up some. My dad noticed my little action and hold my hand gently "Hey it's okay, remember if anything happened just use the walkie-talkie I gave you okay?". I nodded to him and hugs him, hearing his soft chuckle as he hugs back. His chuckle makes me calm down when I'm scared of starting to panic, it's special to me.

"The first team back for breakfast wins invincibility, cover your ears Callie," he told me as he takes out the air horn. I covered my ears quickly and he blows his air horn "off you go".

Thrid POV

Callie hugs Chris close, not wanting to go in the woods. Chris sighs in defeat and turns his head up to look at her "Look if you survive one night outside, I'll buy you that Steven Universe jacket you always wanted".

"Your really going to do that for me" Callie looks down at her short father with sparkling eyes. Chris couldn't help but chuckle at her reaction "yes but if you survive one night okay?". Callie nodded and let's go of Chris then kisses his cheek "see you tomorrow morning".

"See ya baby girl" Chris smiles. He watches his daughter walk away from him as he slowly loses his smile "I hope so...".

Callie join the Screaming Gophers and sees some of them had already left, while the others sit on the logs a bit.

"Did he said there were bears up in here?" LeShawna said as she points to the forest direction. Callie walks behind LeShawna and puts her hand on her shoulder "Hey it's okay. "Besides I had a little encounter with a bear one, let's just say he looks real nice up on my mantle," Owen said then started walking in the forest.
