Chapter 2:
After being scanned, searched, prodded, and downright violated for any “Suspicious Content,” the little black box finally spit out our cards. It read as follows:
Felicius Quinter
Certified Mission Member employee
Eyes:green
Hair: blonde, dyed red highlights
Room: c33
Access limited; infinity applicable
We all had the same room, so we jumped on an elevator our card-spitter told us to go on. There was a little slot to put our cards in, along with a huge keypad of floors and letters and numbers. It swallowed our cards one by one and the keypad lit up. I pushed “Main Room” and the elevator blasted up. I stumbled and toppled into Nazzari and Raysha. I regained my balance as the tinted glass windows sped past the inner metal workings of the colossal building. The elevator shuddered, then lurched to the right, flinging me against a wall. I fell to the ground, bracing myself against the wall. Finally we stopped. The doors slid open to our floor.
A big main room expanded in front of us, velvet couches facing a wall with wall-to-ceiling glass panes. Exotic paintings hung on the off white walls. A huge colorful vase sat in a corner, next to a dimly lit hallway. When we stepped into it the lights brightened. Two rooms were spaces far apart on each side. A plaque on one read c33-1, the next read c33-2, and so on.
“So who’s going to share a room?” Nazzari asked.
“Audrey and I can.” I said.
“You guys, come see this!” Raysha said from the main room. We walked up to the wall of glass she was pressing her nose against.
A huge array of gardens and swimming pools expanded endlessly in front of us. A golf course surrounded a miniature lake, with a miniature island and a miniature golf course. A rock climbing wall stood up so tall it reached our floor, with several hot tubs on top. A swimming pool the size of an ocean swirled around in different shapes and depths. A huge ring of aquariums circled around a shark and dolphin tank. And to top it all off, a huge garden filled with fruit trees and flowers circled the whole fiasco, spanning to the edges of our visions.
“It looks like a hotel.” Celia commented.
“It is our vacation,” I said, inserting my card into the room C33-3. The look buzzed after spitting out my card, and opened to our room. It was huge, with loots of windows and three bedrooms and two bathrooms. I opened a glass door to a cute little balcony, with potted plants covering a tiny garden bench and a little set of chairs and tables overlooking the stunning view. I put my elbows on the smooth marble surface covering the fence that kept us from falling off our little hideaway and hung my head as far down as it could go. It looked like we were about twenty stories up.
“Felicius?” Audrey’s voice came from inside. I turned just as a gut wrenching metal scream intertwined with Raysha’s yelp.
I raced to the main room just to see Celia yanking Raysha’s hair out of a silver box that appeared in the wall. “Hold still! Got it.” Celia said, ripping Raysha’s long brown hair just as a blue duffle bag shot across the room out of the box. I relized the thing was delivering our luggage, and caught my lime green bag in midair. I rolled the heavy thing into my room. The sunset cast pink and orange shadows over the furniture everywhere. I chose the room with the biggest window as my own, and plopped down on the king sized bed, exausted. I heared Audrey shuffle in with her duffle bag and yelled a hasty “Goodnight!” out the door before closing my eyes and letting go to the drowzyness.
