"Presley Salvatore!"
A shrill voice sliced through the warm air of the Mystic Grill within seconds of Presley and Bonnie stepping into the town's popular restaurant. The girls jumped from the loud voice, startled. Every customer and worker in the building ceased their movements and conversations to decipher where the shout came from.
Caroline Forbes weaved through the tables and chairs, moving away from the pool tables where she originally stood alongside of Tyler. She rushed to the duo near the door with a look of anger presented on her pale face. A glass drink with a deep red liquid was grasped in her left hand.
"Uh, hey, Caroline," Bonnie uneasily greeted their friend, noticing the rage steaming off of her petite figure. Her hands tugged on the shoulders of her jacket to pull off of her body. She shared a confused look with Presley before their blonde friend reached them, curious to know the reason for her shouting,
"I cannot believe you!" Caroline lowered her voice to a low shout once she reached them, drawing her right hand back to slap Presley's bicep three times.
Presley flinched backward and grabbed her arm, slightly taken aback by the force behind the hits. "What the hell, Caroline?" She gawked at the fiery blonde.
Caroline stepped back a few steps, chest heaving. Her naturally pink lips pursed together as she aggressively pointed her finger at the brunette next to Bonnie. "You didn't tell me your brother was the new kid! In fact—" She closed the distance between them to swat her arm again. "— you didn't even tell me you had a brother!"
A small fit of laughter bubbled up from Presley's throat and slipped past her lips. "Oh, so you found out," she mused with a smirk.
Bonnie snapped her head in her direction in disbelief. She glanced back and forth between the two, waiting for an explanation. "What?"
"No thanks to you," Caroline snipped in her usual sassy tone. Her hands planted on her hips.
Presley shrugged, unbothered. "I kind of enjoyed watching you run around the school like a chicken with its head cut off, trying to find information about him. It was comical."
"You could have told me."
"Yeah, but where's the fun in that?" She countered.
Caroline threw her hands up in defeat and exasperation.
"Wait, you have a brother?" Bonnie questioned, raising an eyebrow as she stared at Presley.
Presley briefly glanced in Bonnie's direction, quick to correct her without thinking, "I have two."
Her ocean eyes grew large as the words tumbled from her lips and sunk in. She hadn't intended to blurt that fact out. Presley prayed her friends hadn't caught onto what she had said, but the wide-eyed look growing on Caroline's face proved her wish wasn't granted.
"Two?" Caroline exclaimed louder than necessary.
Presley flinched.
"You have two brothers and you've never told us before? One, who, by the way, is insanely attractive!"
A couple at a nearby table glared at the group. Caroline ignored the looks, too focused on finding out the answers about Presley's brothers.
Her nose wrinkled at the thought of Stefan that way. "Uh, first off, ew, Second, I don't really talk about my siblings much," Presley explained to her friends, calmly.
"But why not?" Caroline whined.
Presley sighed, "Because Stefan and I are the closest out of the three of us, but I haven't seen him since he left for boarding school, and my other brother is dead to me."
