Chapter One
I love Penny Mason. Don't get me wrong, I truly love her as a sister and my best friend since forever. But her booking me a surprise flight to her place in London for the winter holidays was the worst idea she could have come up with. That's saying a lot, since she's had a lot of pretty bad ideas. I mean, it's such a sweet gesture, but really it's too much...and also the fact that I do not like being on planes is now being evident to me.
I am never flying again! EVER!
That's my thought as I sit in the plane that will take me to London. Despite it being my dream to go to London, I never thought I would hate flying so much. There go my dreams of seeing the rest of the world.
Thanks a lot Penny!
"I am never, ever, ever, ever, EVER, getting on another plane again!" I say as I close my eyes tightly. "I don't know how I'm going to survive this flight...And we haven't even lifted off yet!"
"But Andy, we have to get on the plane to get back home! Are we gonna take a boat instead? Could we take a boat home? Pleeease?!"
The voice came from my right. That was from Sofia. She's been completely okay with the whole trip so far, which isn't surprising since she is only three years old. She must be having the time of her short life so far. I thought she would be at least a little worried, but I guess after watching the planes movie she must think the plane will start talking soon.
"Hon, I don't know how we are going to get home," I say with a frown. " But I do know that Aunt P has another thing coming if she thinks she's going to sending us off in a plane again, because I'm just not down for that." I keep my eyes closed tight.
If I have anything to be thankful right now, it's that we are have a nine pm flight and I won't see how far up we'll be while flying. At least Penny had that much sense. But in all seriousness she probably knew I'd freak out like this. I mean we have been friends since we were four and our friendship has lasted for fifteen years. So it's safe to say that we know each better than we know ourselves. We're more like long lost sisters than friends. And I wouldn't have it any other way. I wouldn't be where I am without her. Not only in the plane, in life too.
"Andy, I'm thirsty."
I open my eyes and look to my left. That's from Daniel. His mop of white blonde hair blocks his eyes, reminding me to get him a haircut. He actually looks a little pale under all the hair. Even the spray of freckles on his face seem to be pale. He was fine the last time I checked. He must be freaking out now because of me. Getting him water will probably get me to calm down enough for the both of us. I look over the seats for plane attendant and spot one at the end of the aisle near the front of the plane.
"Hold on Dan, I'll be right back with some water." I unbuckle and get up to the aisle. I look over at Sofia to ask if she wants something too. Before I can even open my mouth, she replies.
"I'm thirsty too!"
Of course she wants what Daniel wants. She's his twin after all. They both have the same thick hair and light blue eyes. That's where the physical similarities end. Daniel has his freckles and Sofia has her dirty blonde hair. Personality-wise, Sofia is quite talkative and dramatic, while Daniel is more reserved and curious. But they more or less like or want the same things. They work well together, since you can guess what the other wants just by asking what one wants.
"Okay, I'll be back soon. Don't move an inch."
I head down to the front of the plane, trying to calm my nerves down. When I get to the front, I see the plane attendant talking to someone in the first class section. She looks like she's a year or two older than me. I lean on the wall to wait patiently for her to finish helping the person she is talking to, when I hear her talking.
