"Define love." His voice was soft as the night breeze combes through his messy, black hair while the stars glisten above you.

You take a deep breath with your eyes closed as you hold onto the railing connected to the balcony of the hotel room, while trying to pull your thoughts together.

What is love?

"Love..." You open your eyes and look out to the ocean's waves crashing to shore. "Love is, by book, an intense feeling of affection." you look over to him, chuckling.

"In your own words." He corrects himself while leaning on the railing and looking in your glossy eyes.

You push a strand of hair behind your ear and stretch out your arms, still holding onto the railing. You look down for a second before returning your gaze to the water.

"Love is when the person who's on your mind the second you wake up, is also the last thing you think about before falling asleep." You say as you shift your weight onto one foot.

"It's when you look into that certain person's eyes and see everything that you need.

"Love is wanting the absolute best for that person, wanting them to be the happiest person ever," you pause and bite your lower lip while looking down, realizing that these very feelings are what you're feeling towards him "even if they're happiness doesn't include you." You finish almost in a whisper.

"Love isn't just butterflies or feeling nervous when you're around that certain person." You pull your gaze to the handsome man beside of you. "Love also gives you that craving for their touch."

He looks at you with confusion.

"Not necessarily a sexual touch. Just holding their hand or even hugging alone. The small things, like their hand on your cheek or them kissing your forehead. Craving their touch doesn't have to be sexual. If that's the only craving you have for that person, hate to break it to you but you're not in love."

He laughs softly and shifts his weight back to his feet while standing up straight. "Have you ever been in love?"

You raise your eyebrows and look down to the pool and lazy river that's unattended below you guys. "I once thought I was. Have you?" You curiously look back up to him.

He looks out to the ocean before answering, "No." in a monotoned voice.

"Can I change that?" Immediately, you cover your mouth the second the words slip. "Oh god." You hide your face in embarrassment as the blood rushes to your cheeks. "I didn't mean..." You cut yourself off by giggling at the embarrassment.

"It's okay." He laughs lightly. "Can I ask you something else?" You nod as you move your hands from your red face and look at the ocean. "Do you believe in love at first sight?"

"Yeah." You softly answer before looking at him. "I believe in love at first sight."

"Then," he leans forward slightly, taking your hands in his, "you have changed my mind on love..."

You feel your heart skips many beats as you stare into his deep, brown eyes. "You're welcome." you lightly giggle as your cheeks heat up once again.

Zak chuckles then, kisses your forehead and pulls you into a hug. He rests his chin on the top of your head as you listen to his heartbeat in one ear and the ocean in the other.

I could get used to this.. You think to yourself.
