The time went by and you trained us for hours. We studied the journal and researched everything we could think of. We were as ready as we possibly could be. And just in time, too.

"You ready?" You asked me.
"I don't have a choice, do I?" I asked with a smile.
"You look gorgeous, Jordan. Thank you for being my date to this... memorable occasion." You said and graciously kissed my hand. It would've been so much more romantic under different circumstances. I put on my red mask that complimented my red, elegant dress. You put on your black and red mask to match your black suit and red tie.
"You know, we kind of look like a couple." I said with some hidden intentions.
You smiled and replied: "I guess we do."
I had my two daggers strapped around my thigh along with a wooden stake. Hopefully, it would be all that I needed.
"Men are so lucky. You don't have to wear high heels and you most definitely have more space to hide your badass weapons." I said, fixing your tie.
"Well, we don't look as beautiful, do we?" You whispered. I got chills and I really, really, really wanted to kiss you right then and there. I stepped away and shifted my gaze to the floor.
"You guys ready to go?" It was Justin. He locked up the house and joined us on the front porch.
"We were waiting for you." You rebuked.
We got into Justin's car, just the three of us. "You guys know that Rachel's going to be there right? What are we going to do about her? We can't let her be part of all this. She needs to be safe when everything goes down." Justin was right.
"She's probably going with Andrew, which is the worst part." I added.
"I'll take care of it. She won't be with him and she won't get hurt. Trust me." You said, you looked back at me over your shoulder and I nodded. After all the reading we did, we assumed that Andrew was a vampire and that he was just using Rachel and getting close to her as part of the vampires' plan.
I trusted you with my whole heart. You were the only person that was able to crawl so deep into my heart that I could never let go. I was scared. Who wouldn't be? But I wasn't scared of dying. That didn't bother me in the least. I was scared of losing you even though you weren't mine to keep. I wanted to tell you how I felt, but I didn't want to worry you even more. Tonight would already be too much to bare.
We arrived at the masquerade and we were all silent. We knew that it could be our last night ever, yet we didn't back down. This was bound to happen.
We walked up the stairs at the entrance of the hall and entered. It was very classy and everyone dressed to impress.
Our plan was simple. Stupid, but simple. We were only three, which brought our odds of succeeding down a lot. We knew that at least ten vampires would attend. And my father would be somewhere, being the vampire sacrifice that we had read about. Stupid vampires and their stupid traditions. Justin headed over to the bar to scout the area and see if something suspicious is underway. You and I went to the dance floor where we danced and kept an eye out for vampires. "You're a pretty good dancer." I said while scanning the crowd.
"You're not too bad yourself. I just wish this could've been a bit less about the situation at hand and a lot more about the dancing." We made eye contact and you spun me around.
"We need to focus, remember? Where's Rachel?" I asked, trying to calm the butterflies in my stomach.
"According to the journal, it's all going down as soon as the moon is visible through that window over there." You slowly twirled me around so that I could see the window too. It was almost time. "Let's go find Rachel and Andrew. You distract him." You said and led me away. We spotted them at the other side of the hall near the foyer.
