What can I get for you?

The meeting

You perk up during the holidays though. Now you get to go put and enjoy your life. You eagerly make your way to the library and borrow a huge stack of books. 

Soon though, you become bored of seeing the same faces everyday, borrowing books that you've read before because the library doesn't have the ones you want, etc, etc,etc. You need to earn the extra cash to buy the books you really want. But what job should you try out for? Many of the posts available have been taken up by the popular people and you don't dare to try out for those. It will only make your life worse. You almost give up. Borrowing books is a better alternative. 

It is only when you look up after entering the bakery to buy some bread for a snack that you realise that he is staring at you and grinning at you. Emboldened by the fact that this can allow you to speak to him, you decide to try out for a job here. After all, it does seem to be only him...

"Hey y/n! Fancy seeing you here! What can I get for you today?" he asks.

He knows your name!! And he's speaking to you like you're his friend!!

"A job?" you say nervously, not knowing if he will find that funny or weird.

"Haha, need to earn money too huh? I know I have to. You're in luck though, we're hiring. Let me call my boss... " he replies easily.

Long story short, you got the job and he showed you the ropes. He was always there, patiently explaining the same thing over and over again until you get it. He gently guides you and helps you whenever you accidentally injure yourself. He takes the blame for all your mistakes and soon, you develop a passion for baking... and dare you say, a friendship with him?

While working there, you two became really close... You laugh at his un-silly jokes, go out on walks with him to get food during your break times... he treated you like his second sister and you treated him like the brother you never had. 

You two share many good times together and your (officially confirmed) friendship grows.

Somehow, you grew so comfortable around him that you allowed him to wheedle out your situation out of you.  When he found out the real reason why you tried to die, he looks shocked and quickly wraps his arms around you. You lean into his embrace, hugging him back tightly. 

"I tried to thank you but you ignored me" you mutter, a few minutes later.

"The kids in school are vicious. They would have started rumors saying you had a crush on me... your life would have become worse." he replies sadly, still hugging you tightly.

Ever since that day, he would often invite you to go back to his house for meals. Curious you ask him the reason why. Blushing, he responds vaguely, but you manage to hear the words "so that you won't be alone".
