Chapter 4 - Assistant

Ethan rolled up his sleeves, revealing his skinny arms, "I'll cook tonight."

"Apron." Ruby took the apron hanging on the shelf and unfolded it. She wanted to tie him. "It can prevent your white shirt from oil slashing."

Ethan glanced at her, then turned around. She put on the apron for him quickly.

The large apron was supposed to suit both of them to work. Although he was tall, he was still rather comical in it.

Ruby didn't leave, just leaning on the door and looking at his busy figure, with good manners and education, even doing housework was particularly eye catching. "Hum, why did you come back today."

Although the two reached a consensus that he would have to go home every Sunday unless he was on a business trip. Ruby had thought that he would probably not be back today as her returned yesterday.

"It's Sunday today." He was busy washing the vegetables without turning his head.

"Oh." Her eyes turned dimmed.

As expected, if it wasn't for her contact, he wouldn't have come back for home, right?

"Did you call me this morning?" Ethan asked and explain incidentally: "The assistant answered and told me. I realize that  it was you after checking my phone."

Assistant?

Would any assistant call their boss as 'Ethan' so intimately?

"I just want to ask if you're coming back." Ruby still did not ask why didn't he save her number. Since his explanation made she feel uncomfortable, she turned around and went to the living room.

Ruby browsed the WhatApp for a while out of boredom, the she felt upset and couldn't help but open Google.

When she came back to her senses, she found what she searched was "Why didn't my husband save my number", or "The assistant called my husband intimately" and so on.

She couldn't help but click on the list of replies. 'Your husband is cheating, and you should be careful' , 'Check your husband's phone to collect evidence for divorce, so that you can get a bit more money at least'. She smiled with an acerbic feeling.

At this time, Ethan came out with dishes, and shout to her: "Come and eat."

"Alright." Ruby turned off her phone hurriedly.

They had always been eating in silence. She looked at Ethan frequently, her eyes were complicated, but she said nothing.

After dinner, he washed the dishes and returned to his bedroom.

He should be very busy lately. He lied in bed after taking a shower. When she returned with a mask on her face, he was already asleep with turning back on her, ruby felt like they were separated by a mountain.

Ruby was staring at his phone on the bedside table. After standing there for a long time, she finally could not hold back and brought it quietly.

She knew the password as she had taken photos with his phone.

After entering the password, Ruby browsed though it casually. There was nothing but some business mails which she did not understand.

The text message made her stop breathing.

There was a text message of just a few words which has been read: [Ethan, thank you for today. I will treat you to a good meal when you have time.]

Sherry?
Was it the assistant's name? Or an other woman?

Ruby wasn't sure what she felt seeing this message. If it's not an important message, he would have deleted it early. She turned off the phone and put it back on the bedside table.

Seeing his broad back, Ruby couldn't help but to hug around his waist.

In the next second, her hands were gently pulled out, and the man even moved to the other side, intentionally getting away from her.

Ruby was sore by that.

He had sex with her endlessly last night, but she has rejected a hug today.

Was there nothing between them but the marriage certificate and his physical needs?

Ruby thought if the work about her father was finished, she might decide to get a divorce.

She was too tired to wait for 4 years.
