First chap!! Im so excited about this story. Hope you enjoy! Ps. I love every kind of feedback so now you know how to make my day!!
It's free time in prison and almost everyone is outside. Today is rather interesting day because there are some new inmates coming in. Most of the inmates are here to check out the new arrivals.
Not Harry though. He is here because light is better outside to sketch a tattoo desing for tomorrow's customer. He is sitting on the ground next to a big tree. Maybe it was curiosity that made him choose a spot where he could see the whole yard but he would never admit that to anyone.
The sketch is a spider. Tarantula to be exact. It's quite common tattoo theme in here and Harry has done plenty of them so this one is nothing too complicated but he still wants all of his designs to be perfect. Good tattoo means happy customer and that means less trouble. Also fine tattoo is basically free advertising so Harry always tries his best when it comes to tattoos.
Being too concentrated at drawing, Harry didn't even notice that new inmates have been here for awhile and are being rounded by other inmates. He only notices this when unfamiliar high pitched voice is heard over all the other noise.
"Don't ya dare touch me you fooking loosah"
Behind the other prisoners there was someone with caramel colored messy hair who apparently was source of that sentence. Harry really couldn't see the whole person because there were so many people between them.
The yard is filled with noises but Harry is not able to figure out what's happening exactly. He assumes the one shouting doesn't like being subject to review and somehow managed to anger other inmates.
Guard chooses to intervene in this situation and everyone is forced to lay down on the ground. And one of the guards called Murray leads this new kid with caramel hair and high pitched voice inside.
Harry is surprised how small this one really is compared to mess he caused. Usually people know their limits and it's not really wise to annoy people in your first day here if you're not extremely rugged.
...
Harrys pov.
After the incident everyone are heading back to their cell's. And by cell I mean doorless recesses. Sometimes when there's a lock down guards can pull bars from the cealing by pressing some button but that happens very rarely.
Inside the cell there is two bunks, closet, and a chair for both inmates and a toilet. So nothing too fancy but if you expected glitter and cotton candy you're in wrong place.
When I get back to mine Thompson, my cell mate shouts: "Yo Styles did ya see what went down outside?"
"Yeah. That new kid caused some scene apparently." I answered.
"Yeah. He almost started a fight. What a feisty little thing. Acting all tough.. I heard he's called Tomlinson. We'll see how long it takes for him to learn to be quiet" Thompson adds
"He'll learn." I said.
"I just must say he got lucky that it was Murray watching outside today. Some other guard may have thrown him in the SHU." Thompson continues.
"Yeah you're probably right. Murray is tough but at least he's not savage." I agreed. Comparing some other guards I actually liked Murray. He's strict with rules but when he's watching no one gets hurt.
Thompson is somewhere in his thirties. He's been here longer than I and he spends most of his time trying to grow his already huge muscles. He looks scary and talks a lot in a way that makes you feel like a smallest person in the world. But actually he's a really good guy.
He allows me to do tattoos in our cell so I don't have to do them in shower and on top of that he's willingly watching out for guards so I don't have to worry about getting caught which is important for my little forbidden business. Getting caught would take me straight to SHU or in worst case scenario: add years to my sentence.
Some guards for example Robinson and Murray kind of knows what I'm doing and are somewhat okey with it. Robinson doesn't really care as long as I'm not causing any problem but he won't appreciate me doing it in front of his eyes. He's probably the most liked guard around here because he cares about the inmates but he's not too strict so everyone can be chilled around him.
Murray will probably report me in spot if he ever sees me tattooing someone. But he is not purposely trying to find my cache or get me caught.
I still must be careful to not annoy them because they are nicer than most guards. For example Davis is worse than most inmates. He's totally inhuman and gets some sick pleasure of torturing and using us for his own benefits. I'm fucked if he figures out my business.
...
Harry sits alone in an empty table. It's not that uncommon and he prefers it that way. He doesn't really have a group. Sometimes he sits with a customer while discussing about tattoo design but other than that he's pretty much alone.
It's not that he's unliked. Actually he's pretty respected because of his business. Being able to make tattoos makes him harder to replace. Plus he knows almost everyone in here which makes him aware of lots of things that happens around him.
And because he hasn't shown any interest at joining any gangs, there's no reason for anyone to dislike him.
He just doesn't want to get too close with anyone. Harry just wants to serve his time, get out and get on with his life without getting too deep in the prison drama. After all he got only three years left of his four year sentence.
Harry sees Tomlinson looking for a spot to sit and apparently his empty table seems intriguing. Their eyes meet and it amuses Harry how much uncertainty a look can hold. New kid is almost shaking and his pupils are constantly moving, not being able to keep focused for too long. Harry shakes his head to warn Tomlinson not to sit with him and he seems to understand.
Harry has been new and he understands how scary it can be first days inside but he doesn't have time or energy to be someones mama. Especially when that someone is as feisty as this Tomlinson kid.
Apparently there was no free space anywhere else because now Tomlinson is sitting in another end of Harrys table. Gladly he's smart enough not to speak.
Almost no time passes when this prison gang called Two ghosts sit around Tomlinson. They aren't the most dangerous gang but they cause many problems inside the walls.
The thing with this gang is they knows how helpless new ones are and they are trying to use that for their benefit.
Usually they act friendly and offer place from the gang and protection if you agree do to some small task. After agreeing you're forced to do whatever they have in mind. Actually they are not really looking for new members, just a ragdoll to do their dirty work. So after your work is done you will be thrown out.
It's always a shame that new beans fell for that shit. Gangs are quickest way in trouble. I know it's scary in here at first and the feeling of being unprotected makes people agree stupid things but those are not good people they just act kind until you do what they want but after that you are treated like trash by them.
Most that came in here are smart enough to decline the proposal and I secretly hope Tomlinson is one of them.
"Fuck off! I'm clean thank you very much. I'm not gonna do any nasty shit for someone I don't know." Tomlinson said. And I felt proud.
"Just think about it. The deal is open. You know where to find us." I hear one of them say before leaving.
Tomlinson sits alone for the rest of the dinner and he seems like he's considering the deal. I just hope he's strong enough not to take it.
I would warn him. I really would if we were anywhere but here. This is prison and you can't just say anything or your own ass will be in line. Everyone must just mind their own business that just the way this system works. I just hope he figures this place out before anyone gets hurt.
And here it was! I'm little bit anxious about my english skills because I'm not native. Hope you're happy with this quality.
