Keeping Secrets - Chapter 2

Abyss' POV

~2 days later~

A couple of days later, I had bonded with the team. It has been a great 2 days, messing about, helping them with work and many other exciting things! We were walking back from going on an adventure when I felt a sharp pain on my back. The pain slowly spread after a while to my arms, but I didn't take any notice of it. After a while, my arms were really aching.

"Hey, guys? Do you mind if we stop?" I ask.

"Yea. Why not? We've been walking for a while," Adam says.

Why was I getting these pains? Then it hit me, it was the dragon part of me! As we stopped for a break, I decided to sit against a tree. I tried to keep calm, if I got too worried, it would take advantage and take over.

As Ty came over he asked, "Hey Abyss, you ok?"

"Not really," I say.

He was about to ask why, but he saw me grab my arm in pain. He quickly sat down next and put his arm around me. I leaned against him, I kept getting sharp pains no matter what, though. He looked at me with worried eyes, if I were in his shoes I would be as worried he was right now. As I started shaking, he called Seto over. I was shaking like I was freezing cold right now. Pains kept shooting through me and they wouldn't stop. I hugged Ty and he hugged back. I was in so much pain now, even if I could ignore pain this would be too much. Seeing what state I was in, Seto placed his hand on my shoulder, trying to comfort me. I tried to lift my head to look at Seto, but I couldn't due to my weakness. I was weak from holding back my dragon side for so long. Seto was really worried by now. The team had stopped chatting by now and was silent, I think they had seen what was going on. Seto gave me a potion and told me to drink it. I felt myself slipping away from consciousness, but I guessed it was the potion. I let myself fall asleep.

Ty's POV

As Seto gave Abyss the potion, I felt worried for her. I wish we didn't have to make her be asleep. She was in too much pain, though, and it was the only way to get rid of it. Adam came over and asked what had happened.

Seto replied, "I had to give her a potion to make her sleep 'cause she was in pain. I'm not sure why but I have an idea, I think she has a hybrid side."

Adam and I looked shocked after Seto had just told us. I knew he was a sorcerer, but I didn't know he could sense hybrids! We decided between us who was going to carry Abyss and I offered to carry her so we went with it. I picked her up gently and carried her bridal style. My eyes were filled with worry. I had no idea what was wrong with her. Seto decided that he would stay near me in case Abyss were to wake up.

As we set off towards home once again, everyone was quiet. I guess they were worried. The rest of them didn't even know how much pain she was in. When I was trying to comfort her, I felt how hard she was shaking. It was almost as if she was freezing. It was a mix between worry and fear for her.

Seto's POV

As we carry on our trek, I can't stop thinking about Abyss. There's something about her that makes me think about her. I try to think about what hybrid she could be. Then the thought came to me. She was a dragon hybrid!

"Guys we need to hurry up!" I say.

"Why?" They ask, they were confused by now.

"Because I know what's wrong with Abyss, and it's not good," I say.

We needed to hurry otherwise things will go VERY badly. We all speed up and some of us break into a dash. I couldn't let this happen. At all. The same sort of thing happened to me when I got my hybrid side. As we run through the plains, I use telepathy to talk to one of my old friends; Rythian. I told him about Abyss and that she was a hybrid, he said he'd be there in 10 minutes.

As we arrive at our base, I tell Ty to put her on my bed in my tower. Come on Rythian! I need your help! As soon as that thought entered my head, Rythian entered my room. We knew what we had to do. He enchanted the ender crystal shard, that he brought along, with his magic. Whilst he did that, I took off my gloves, they were the only things that kept my cat part hidden and the rest of my magic I hid under control. As I let my tail sway and my ears perk up, Rythian gave me the shard. I grasped the shard in my hands and channeled my magic into it. It hurt slightly, but I didn't care right now. Sorcerers live off of their magic so it is basically their life source. I saw my hands turn paler, I knew my magic was going to run out soon, but I didn't take any notice. I hovered slightly in the air for a minute, then released the spell along ith the essence inside of the shard. As soon as the spell was released, I fell to the ground. The last thing I saw was the worried look in Rythian's eyes, before slipping into darkness.

Rythian's POV

"Seto!" I shout.

I quickly run over to him, his skin was nearly as pale as snow. As I sat down next to him, I moved his fragile body so his head was on my lap. I quickly tried to find a pulse and thank god I did. His pulse was barely there, I felt tears well up in my eyes. Almost nothing makes me cry, but this did. Tears rolled down my face. I knew that the team were most likely standing in the doorway.

"Why?" I mutter, "Why didn't he let me do it?"

I took my life stone out of the bag that I packed and placed it on Seto's chest. I hoped that it had enough charge left to heal him. I sighed when the colour slightly returned to his skin.

"Will he be ok?" I hear Jason say.

"I think so, he used up most of his magic performing the spell," I say.

I just wished he would've let me do it. I was snapped out of my thoughts when I felt a slight tug on my sleeve.

"Seto!" I say with glee, "You're ok!"

I felt tears well up in my eyes, but these tears were of joy. I didn't think he would wake up this soon. Just then I realized something. He's still in his hybrid state! Quickly, I searched through my bag and pulled out his gloves.

I handed them to him and whispered, "You're still in your hybrid state."

He put them on quickly and nodded his thanks.

Seto's POV

I smile at Rythian, I knew that he should have done that spell since he has more magic in him than me, but I did it cause I felt a connection with Abyss. As Rythian gets up, he helps me up in the process. As soon as I was on my feet, a huge wave of dizziness overcame me. I felt really ill for a second so I held my hand to my head and tried to steady my breathing. I quickly told Rythian(through telepathy) and asked him to teleport me somewhere quiet.

"Thanks," I breathed.

When my magic regenerates around people, it sort of goes a bit weird. I sighed and sat down, pulling my knees into my chest. Magic swirled around me like it was trying to form a shield.

"Hey Set, you ok?" Rythian asked.

"Well... I'm not sure really. When my magic regenerates, it goes a bit weird. Thanks for teleporting me." I answer.

I'm happy Rythian teleported me otherwise I could have ended up anywhere. As my magic made a jolt through my body, my breath became hitched. Rythian saw this and sat down next to me.

"Seto, calm down," he said rubbing my back.

To be honest, it was quite calming and soon my breathing returned to normal. The magic that swirled around me slowly disappeared. I tried to teleport back, but I didn't have enough magic left. He saw me and placed his hand on my shoulder and helped me teleport....
