The Last Imoogi

Plot and Characters

Dragons, in their human form, established Silla Kingdom with the aid of the Park Clan whose ancestors brought up and took care of the very first leader of the kingdom. During the reign of King Munmu, the Kingdom flourished, earning respect from even bigger Kingdoms. The neighboring Kingdom, Goguryeo, however, started harboring envy towards Silla and brought up numerous ways to ruin it. When the head of the Park clan fell due to a political turmoil, Goryeo took advantage of it and launched a war against Silla.

Internal conflicts arose within Silla when King Munmu got hurt after leading the war.The Crown Prince Hyuk who had always been selfish and greedy for power, took advantage of it and sent his brother Young, to lead the war with a condition that he would grant the latter's request to marry the daughter of the head of the Park's when he comes home victoriously.

The King was disappointed when he learned about it and revealed to Hyuk that Young was the "Chosen One". The Crown Prince could not bring himself to believe it, insisting that Young is not worthy to be the "Chosen One", and refused to protect Young until the last of the King's breath.

The Crown Prince launched his men to clean Silla. He killed everyone who supports Young and then abducted Ara, the daughter of the Park Clan, and made her his concubine. The Crown Princess tried to help Lady Park escape and told her that even if Young would still fight for her, they really cannot get married for it will only bring harm to both of them.  The latter refused and killed herself by hanging the same day that Young arrived victoriously from the war. Young grieved enormously at the death of his father and beloved woman, and caused the Great Curse to Silla.

Only a few remaining dragons survived and they stayed by Young's side while the Crown Prince and Crown Princess went missing. Each were cursed by the heavens differently, except for Young who has never changed his physical body. He was then enlightened by the elders that what he wanted could never be and he learned that a human can never be a dragon's mate for it will only bring harm to both of them. Since he was the Chosen One, as the prophecy says, he needed to fulfill it to pay for his mistakes. He felt guilty and vowed to his loyal kins that he will pay for what he had caused them on his 1000th year. He waited patiently for the day and paid no attention to other things. He grew cold-hearted and insensitive despite his benevolent nature towards the needy, but things went roughly once more when he crosses path with the reincarnation of the woman he loved dearly.

CHARACTERS:

 Park Ara/ Park Sandara: Young/ Jiyong's past lover before the Great Curse happened, she was the daughter of the Park Clan, one that helped Silla flourish from the very beginning. After almost a thousand years, she was reincarnated as the "Hidden Flower" at Cherry Blossoms House. She crosses path with Young once more, only that she couldn't remember him, and she was set to be the concubine of Joseon's King. (credits to @marraroma on twitter for this character poster! ❤)

 Prince Young/ Kwon Jiyong: Prophecies said that one of the sons of King Munmu was the rightful heir and the "Chosen One who will rise above the others" and many believed it was the Prince Young. Born as a half-blood, couldn't shape shift unlike the others but his dragon-like features manifests during harsh conditions. But this was proved wrong when he changed into an imoogi while in the battle field and lastly, when faced with the death of his beloved woman. He believed he caused the Great Curse to all the remaining imoogis. Seeking to find a remedy for that one big accident that changed his clan's lives forever, he vowed to fulfill the propechy and become the Chosen One on his 1000th day on Earth. Hyuk/ Lee Soohyuk: He has always been selfish, cruel, and full of envy. He was responsible for the Park's downfall for he envied his father's closeness to the royal adviser. He also sent his brother to a war and took advantage of Park Ara while he was away. He believes he can be the Chosen One and that on his 1000th day on Earth, his wish to rule above anyone and anything would be granted.
