I roam the halls, letting my fingertips stroll across the walls as I walk to the end. I let my hand slightly twist the doorknob, wishing for it to open. It refused to budge. A slight stench of dead animals wafted from the crack underneath.
"Wonder what's behind it..." I murmer to myself before heading back to the dimmed living room.
"What do you think, honey?" My mom asked, pulling small things out of fragile marked boxes and placing them gently on the top of the fireplace.
"The room at the end of the hall is locked, and something in there stinks." I scan around the room, covered in mysterious Victorian looking photos.
"Oh.. Yeah. I know. The owners did abandon this house a long time ago, there's bound to be dead things stuck in there. How about we don't worry about it right now? I'm pretty sure that door leads to the basement." Mother flipped her graying brown hair in front of her dark, romantic brown eyes.
"Okay... So which room is mine? There's like, 11 of them. Not counting the upstairs."
"Well, it's just me, you, and dad. Me and you will sleep upstairs, but... I don't trust your dad in the same room or floor as either of us, so he sleeps in one of these rooms. I'll show you to it soon."
"Why are you talking so formal? It's not like you, mom."
"I'm just nervous, honey. New work, new school, new place. It's not going to be anything like the city. We live in the middle of the woods."
"Okay.. I get it. Can I go check it out outside?"
"Yeah, sure. Be careful out there."
I walked over to the front door and turned the back doorknob. This place was giving me weird vibes. I walked across leaves, satisfyingly crunching them beneath my feet. I stared off into the distance as I walked, studying each and every tree, looking for a sign. Something was drawing me ahead, telling me to continue on. The sense of death began to power over my emotions.
I was in a trance, walking on when a twig snapped behind me. A whooshing noise. "H-huh? Who's there?" I began to grow defensive and turned all around, looking for the source. Another whoosh just ahead of me. And another behind me.
"Who is there." I tried my best to sound threatening despite the fear I had and the tremble in my steps. I stared around at one final whoosh, this one stopping halfway.
Something stepped forward. I squinted as it came into view. It was a girl, around my age, around 16. She has dark hair cradling her face and glowing eyes that seemed to be... Orange.
"What a pretty little sight here. A human girl," her voice was beautiful, angelic. The opposite of her looks.
"W-what do you mean by human?" Curiousity was one step ahead of me. "Why did you say it like that? Aren't you a human as well?"
"Princess, don't get so ahead of yourself. Do I look human? I mean.. I was once. Honey, I'm dead."
"What do you mean? Are you like, a ghost or something. Jesus, did I get high before I got here?"
"No, not a ghost," she stepped closer to me, continued walking until she was holding my chin up to look at her with one finger. "Try again."
God, she was so close. And so goddamn beautiful. Her lips looked so soft and plump, I just wanted to kiss them. "Uhhh... Vampire?"
"Bingo." She said, inching closer to my face. By now I had to be bright red before.
"Wow. So red. Am I that intimidating? We just met."
I didn't allow myself to reply.
"Well, we didn't get a proper introduction. My name is Kelly."
"Uhm.. I'm Saffron."
"Wow, your name is yellow flower? Well.. Suiting. Considering you have blond hair and blue eyes.. At least I think it's blond."
"Yes, it's blond." I rolled my eyes.
"How about I get your number? You're very pretty." Kelly whipped out her phone and handed it over.
I hesitated for a slight moment, thinking of all the bad things that could happen if I actually decided to do this. Fuck it. I typed my name in, along with my number, and then proceeded to take a selfie for the profile picture.
"Wow, selfie and all? Thanks, Saffron. Maybe we can meet up tomorrow? I'll text you the time. Right here. Where do you live?"
"Should I really tell you that?"
"Well, what's the harm? You already gave me your name, number, and a photo. What would I do with you if I even managed to kidnap you? Feed off you?"
"Well, I guess. I live in the 2 story mansion like house over that way."
"Oh, I know that house. Maybe I'll stop by sometime. And I'm sure you'll go to my school as well. Well, see you then."
Kelly ran very quickly, leaving me standing in astonishment.
"I'm stupid. Stupid, stupid. And straight... Well, no, I'm bisexual... But I might get hurt if I tell- Oh, wait! I've gotta go back." I turned around and jogged back 'home' like the encounter with a vampire didn't even happen. Not that she was a vampire... Right..?
Hey, author here. So... This will be my coming out of the closet post.
This might earn me hate, but it's not like I can control I'm a lesbian. I will still be creating a range of stories (I write love stories, and it's all I know how to write without being embarrassed.)
Meaning I support straights and will be creating stories about them as well.
I have no idea where this story is going
