The Oblivion of Humanity

There are many ways that I could say the phrase, 'I love you.' Those three simple words, once seemingly bursting at the very seams with compassion, understanding, companionship, and loyalty, have somehow managed to lose their true, passion-filled meaning in a cold, cruel, and careless society that is modern-day Earth. Those three words are being slung around especially mercilessly during this time of year. Ah, the holidays. They seem to bring out that long-forgotten urge to love and be loved in everyone around the world. Even one of the great World Wars paused at Christmas, as soldiers from opposing ends joined together in no-man's-land for a night of peace and joy. People all around the one seem to do the same still to this day, as if in grateful memory of that night on the battlefield during the tyrant reign of Hitler and his Nazi soldiers over Germany. This is all well and wonderful, but alas, this notion of love quickly dissipates with the old year. As the Earth continues to turn and spin and revolve it's way through the vast empty (but not quite as empty as one may think)void that is space around our lone; brightly burning star; all of it whirling on the galactic currents of our very own Milky Way galaxy.

But....

Flashing back millions upon billions upon trillions of light years to our planet, Earth, we all bustle about in our preparation for one of the busiest of busy seasons of the year: the holiday season. As the song goes, "happy holiday, may the calendar keep bringing happy holidays to you." And it sure as hell does, and it brings them with a bang. Every person is wrapped up in red and green ribbons and shining paper and flashing lights, consumed with their to-do lists and parties and every other tradition you can think up.

Keep in mind how much of the entirety of existence you're missing.

Don't let the words lose their meaning.
Never let the boundless expanses of everything pass you by.

Humanity, by nature, is oblivious.

Defy your instincts.
