Day 2 training was harder than the first. Wonho and Chanyeol had made the whole group come together and do long exercise routines that included types of movements that Jaemin didn't even know were humanly possible. After the 'torture session' (as Jeno started referring to it as), they returned to normal training exercises. By the time it reached lunch Jaemin was exhausted having tried the spears and knife throwing, and failed at both. Whether his failure was intentional or not, Jaemin was unsure.
Sitting down at a random table with Jeno, the two ate in relative silence simply enjoying each other's company and the food they were given. Jaemin just wished he could pack some of it up and send it to his sister, Minjae would be astonished by the variety of foods. Both were startled when a metal tray was dumped next to Jaemin. Nakamoto Yuta rather ungracefully sat himself down and began eating, not even acknowledging the two younger tributes. The two boys jumped again when Yuta's fellow tribute fell into the seat next to Jeno. Taeil flashed the two small smiles before eating.
"Could we sit here?" The four silent tributes looked up in unison. "I would rather not waste my brain cells on the Careers who have been doing nothing but talk about the easiest kills for the past 20 minutes." Kim Doyoung of District 3 stood in front of their table, an eyebrow raised in questioning. He sighed upon getting no response. "I'm going to take your silence as a yes."
"Doyoung what are you doing?" Huang Renjun, the other District 3 tribute, hissed.
"Sitting with intellectuals Renjun. You can go and waste your intelligence on those meatheads, but I know an opportunity for a good alliance when I see one."
Jeno choked on his food.
"Alliance?" Jaemin asked, whilst patting Jeno's back- the boy was still coughing loudly. He did not expect a possible Career tribute to want to create an alliance with them. Kim Doyoung surely had a death wish.
"Well why else do you think I sat here?" Doyoung asked. "I'm not here to make friends, I'm here to win and you guys seem to be my best ticket out of here as I have no doubt the Careers would not hesitate to stab me in the back if I so much as put a foot out of line."
"Good to know we're the best bet for victory." Taeil muttered.
"I think you mean we are the easiest tributes for you to push to the side when it suits you best." Yuta sneered at the District 3 tribute who simply shrugged, ignoring the venom in Yuta's voice.
"Good to know we're all on the same page." He said simply, before picking up his cutlery and beginning to eat.
Realising that Doyoung wasn't going to move, Jaemin watched as Renjun huffed and then plonked himself down in the seat next to Yuta. Soon enough Chenle and Kun had joined the table, and were chatting happily amongst themselves, occasionally including Jaemin in their conversation. They both obviously avoided conversation with the other tributes, as Kun had sensed the tension as soon as they sat down and managed to stop Chenle from socialising with the other tributes of this new 'alliance'. Lunch ended faster than Jaemin would have liked it too, he hadn't been able to eat as his stomach wasn't used to all the food but he wanted to remain in the dining hall surrounded by the amazing aromas of foods he will never be able to eat.
"Right so I'd say we stick together from now on, let the other tributes know that we already have an alliance. Maybe we could try out the useful skills like fire building or animal traps, they will definitely help in the arena." Doyoung suggested almost as soon as they stepped out of the lunch room. This seemed to infuriate Yuta, who had spent almost all of lunch silently fuming at the District 3 tribute. He whipped around and glared down at Doyoung.
