It was another day in the kingdom of Liles, I woke up like I was used to groaning and tossing around for a while as I could heard the voice of my chief screaming for us to get up. I sighed and slowly sit down looking at my reflection in the mirror. I quickly fixed my messy hair and got up; walking out of my room.

"Hey Kcalb!" Exclaimed my chief as he passed right by me. "Hope you had a goodnight soldier. Today is another day to protect the city but for you... It's time for a promotion."

"Promotion?" I asked confused.

"The queen wants to see you. Do not make her wait."

I stood there for a while, shocked and confused. A promotion? By the hand of the queen? It looked like a dream coming true. Of course, I always dreamed about becoming a head guard but serving the royal family? That was even better than I could imagine.

I bowed to my chief before quickly running to the throne room. The people of the court were all congratulating me on the way, like everyone but me was awared of my promotion... And I can't say that I didn't like that at all, but instead, I felt so proud!

Upon arriving in front of the big golden doors, I took a deep breath and placed my hand on my chest.

"Breath in... Breath out... Phew... Alright, I'm ready."

I pushed the doors and entered inside the castle, the queen and the princess were already there, sitting in their golden throne, majestic. I approached them holding my breath, the queen Camelia smiled before standing, her voice resonating in the room.

"Dear Kcalb, I believe you know why you've been called here today."

"I do believe so Your Majesty." I replied, looking at her.

"I have the great honnor to name you: royal guard and personnal guard of the princess Daffodils."

"P-Personnal guard...?!" I whispered yelled in shock.

I looked at the younger princess who gently smiled, waving softly. I blushed and return my attention on the queen as she took a little medal on a red velvet pillow before gently putting it on my chest.

"From now on, you'll serve under our royal name and shall protect us with your life at all cost."

"I swear on my name that no one shall touch thee."

"I believe you will. Now, I have things to attend."

The queen smiled another time before walking away, going inside the town. I turned my head towards my princess before walking to her, bowing.

"Princess, I'm Kclab, you're knight. I'll serve you the best I can!"

I could hear her softly chuckle before her hand pat my shoulder.

"Then show me the guards dormitory."

"Yes, of course! Wait... Huh?!"

"There's nothing much I can do here..." She replied in a quiet voice. "My sister is doing all the hard work and I cannot help."

She looked down.

"I wish I could help her... But... I would just slow her down."

I looked at the princess and I could feel that she was really trying to be strong in thoses days. Her mother was still in her bed and her sister was out in town to take care of the people while she had to stay in her room, working on whatever she had to.

But I wasn't sure if I could bring the princess over, I mean... The dormitories are quite messy and dirty... I sighed.

"It's... Inappropriate for you princess..."
