~ Mistakes Aren’t Always Bad ~
One night, Momo Yaoyorozu was crying in her room after she displayed a lacking performance during heroics class.
Flashback:
“All right, everyone. Today, we’ll be doing a rescue exercise in Ground Delta. Get to the lockers and be out in 10 minutes,” All Might exclaimed.
The class went to the locker rooms as they talked among themselves of the rescue exercise they will be having.
Ground Beta:
The students were now in their costumes as All Might explained the rules of the exercise.
“Okay, we can now start since everybody’s here. The class will be divided into five groups of four and the goal is to rescue ten civilian robots placed in one district of the city. Take note that the city currently emulates the destruction caused by a villain attack so expect some debris and broken buildings. This is not a competition; however, the exercise is still timed. That’s all and let’s get to the groupings.”
And the members of each group were:
Group 1: Yaoyorozu, Midoriya, Shoji, Jiro
Group 2: Ochako, Katsuki, Mineta, Sero
Group 3: Mina, Kirishima, Tokoyami, Hagakure
Group 4: Tsuyu, Sato, Koda, Iida
Group 5: Ojiro, Denki, Yuga, Todoroki
Group 1 was first so they were sent into the city while the others waited with All Might in the viewing room.
“Get ready, Group 1. The trial will start in 5 minutes,” All Might’s voice boomed over the speakers.
“What’s the plan?” it was Jiro who asked.
“W-w-well, w-we should look first at the robots nearest to us. Jiro can use her jacks to locate the civilians while Shoji and I could do the heavy lifting,” Izuku shyly gave his thoughts while Shoji simply nodded, agreeing to the greenette’s words.
“Good thinking Midoriya. We could also use your speed to take the robots to the med bay in no time. And also, I was thinking of creating some support in case any of the buildings fall over us during the operation,” Momo suggested. Midoriya simply rubbed his neck in a sheepish manner.
They all later agreed to the plan and the buzzer went off, prompting the group to start looking for the robots.
After the exercise:
The plan went smoothly. With Jiro finding the robots quickly with her jacks, Midoriya and Shoji lifted some of the debris when they found out that more than half of the ten robots they were tasked to find were trapped underneath various debris. The only time consuming part was when Momo created the materials to support the debris and some of the buildings that were close to collapse. Other than that, they finished quickly.
“Now that the last group has returned and finished the exercise, we can now look at your times,” All Might’s voice boomed over the room. He held out a disk and the times were shown on the projector.
1st: Group 4 - 8 minutes, 24 seconds
2nd: Group 5 - 9 minutes, 21 seconds
3rd: Group 2 - 11 minutes, 41 seconds
4th Group 3 - 12 minutes, 14 seconds
5th: Group 1 - 16 minutes, 20 secondsMomo and her group were shocked by the revelation. They were the ideal team for this exercise and yet, they got last place by a large margin. Their teamwork was well and with Midoriya’s speed, Jiro’s jacks, Shoji’s strength, and Momo’s versatility, they would've finished faster than the others. The three accepted their time and used it as a reminder to train harder. However, one of them felt guilty as she knew the reason why they were last.
