A week later

Grace woke up with a start. It was ‪11.03 p.m.‬. Beep! She just received a message from her friend.

"One more hour until your 26th birthday, Grace!!"

That was when it hit Grace that it was her birthday in an hour. Her flashback ran through her mind, sending pangs of anxiety in her.

Doom! She heard a flower pot break outside. She called out for Aunt Steph who was already opening the front door to check outside.

Grace cautiously stepped out of her room. To her surprise, there were three birthday cakes on the dining table. Just as she was about to go to the dining table, Aunt Steph's dead body was lying in the kitchen. The moment Grace gasped, she felt a sharp pain in her back. She looked down and saw a kitchen knife lodged into her back.
