Mixed emotions

"Oh!!! my goodness, these books will kill me... I am so tired girl, let's take a nap or a drink first. Katkat can't you hear me let's take a break. We have been reading for the past two hours", Mapendo coaxed for a break.

"Oh!!! my can't you just concentrate even for once. Let's be serious we are about to graduate", Katrina said in a pissed tone.

Mapendo shook her head then told her "You suck".

"Be my guest cuttie", Katrina stuck her tongue out chuckling then continued reading.

"I don't know why I feel so tired and worn out. I am just so done with high school at last ", Mapendo was thinking out loud.

"Max...!!!!!!! why are you walking so fast", Mapendo babbled in a restless way.

"Why are you so tired. You look like you been getting on it while drumming and dancing all night", Max giggled.

"How I wish was dancing and drumming. I have been reading like for the past two hours in the library. And you know how that base is so boring. Katkat refused we take a break", Mapendo closed her locker.

"Which class do we have in the afternoon ", Max asked.

"It's physics then mathetics. Let's go now", Mapendo grabbed his hand and headed to class.

Max is her best friend. He's that dude that she's so free with. They actually behave like twins. Most think they are dating cause, they are super close. But in reality, it's like a sister to brother relationship.

Mapendo always think that he's like a bar of chocolate that would wish to eat every day. Wow!!!! and those sleepy eyes, he just amuses many girls who crush on him and they always use her as their messenger. She sees him like that brother she never had.

As they entered class the three clowns clicked. They are these three silly wanna be queens of the school. May, Audrey, and Anna really pisses her off.

She doesn't even remember where the rivalry started. She doesn't give a fuck about them, they really irritate her.

Max drove her home. When she's not around Katrina or Pearl, it's Max that she's always with.

"What's your plan after finishing highschool. Which course will you specialize in...?"Max interrogated Mapendo starting the engine of his car.

"Uuummm...would love to be a chef so that I can be around food all the time. The second option is being a designer cause I really love designing. Third would love to be a doctor so I can be able to inject your ass", Mapendo laughed.

"Your such an asshole Mapendo. You wish to see my butt huh...", he asked raising a brow at her amused.

"Hell no if that happens will run away", Mapendo said in a bitchy way.

"Thanks for the ride bestie, "Mapendo hugged him then waved at him as he drove away.

Ashlee had already arrived from school. Mapendo went straight to her room to freshen up.

After one hour she came looking for Mapendo which she knew she wanted something.

"I am so excited to see you", Ashlee said in a funny way. It was unlike her since it's been long since she saw her that way.

"Guess what....guess what.... ", Ashlee winked at her.

"I am not good at guessing what's the good news," Mapendo raised a brow at her.

"Your cute admirer is looking for you. He is at the lobby", Ashlee informed her winking.

"Gross uugghh... Is mum around...?" Mapendo wanted confirmation the last thing she wanted is her mum spotting a guy other than Max in the house.

"No, she hasn't arrived yet", Ashlee responded.

"You really like this guy", Ashlee flattered Mapendo.

"No...I mean yeah I don't know. He's so cute though can't deny it", Mapendo responded tired of her numerous questions.

When she arrived at the lobby Mapendo was pissed off. Ashlee lied to her to see her reactions.

"Why did I fall for her silly tricks. It wasn't Liam rather it was Katkat. It was at night and she was looking for me. I knew deep down something was wrong", Mapendo thought seeing Katrina in deep thoughts.

"Hi boo", Mapendo hugged Katkat.

"Let's go to my room", She instructed Katrina while yelling at Ashlee who laughed the whole time.

"Why are you pissed off. What did Ash do?" Katkat asked concerned.

"She told me that you were Liam", Mapendo answered looking keenly at her.

"It's funny how she managed to deceive you", Katrina said trying to grin though her smile had sorrow behind it. Suddenly her mood changed to how she was truly feeling.

"Why are you here...what's up..?" Katrina was so withdrawn and weary unlike when they were in school earlier.

"Imagine my mum is back", Katrina opened up.

"What...!!!!! she is back", Mapendo was shocked.

"Yes, when coming back from school. I found her at my foster mum's house", Katrina sat taking a deep breath.

"She left all those years ago. Now is she back claiming that she really wants me back. It's so unfair and she is so selfish. I won't follow her. I am not ready to leave at all. She was telling me that she wants to reunite with me. I don wanna leave this place. Especially you, Tony and my parents", Katrina's eyes were brimming with tears.

She cried for a while, Mapendo understood her situation since Katrina explained everything to her. Her mum left her with her foster mum when she was barely eight months old. Her mum at that time was 16 and she had to go back to school. Her mum's parents told her mum to abort her but she refused. She came to Mrs. Smith who is the foster mum of Katrina. She took her in and let her give birth to Katrina. They sent her to school and left when she got a job.

Luckily Mapendo was there to comfort her, it really pained her seeing her best friend hurt.

"Can I sleep over tonight..?" Katrina requested Mapendo hoping she would accept.

"Yes, you can is that even a question", Mapendo replied in assurance.

"You are such a God-sent friend thanks for everything", Katrina thanked her.

"No ..... I can't imagine losing my crazy best friend", Mapendo thought embracing Katrina.

"I need to prepare this fast. Have you finished preparing the onions and tomatoes", asked Ashlee who was preparing slowly.

"Why are you not with her..?" Ashlee asked curiously.

"She's resting in my room. Family issue problems," Mapendo answered her back then continued cooking.

"Wake up sleeping beauty. At least eat something", Mapendo woke her up and Katrina ate the meal she prepared.

"Goodnight hun and fly on the rainbow", Mapendo told her while covering her up.

"Thanks, what could I have done without you", Katrina grinned at her.
