Serim - Snow

Snow, what is the first thing that comes into your mind when I say snow? The gentle and lush, cold to the touch, powdery heavenly beauty? Or a swirling storm of screaming silver? Quick fun fact, for those who think snow is frozen rain, you're wrong! That's sleet, snow starts as water vapour freezes into tiny crystals, forming into a hexagonal prism. It grows as more vapour drops freeze to the prism's corners, building outward from the center.

"Wow! Noona! It's snowing!" My brother, Seongmin, said excitedly. He pressed his face against the window, looking up at the sky, eyes lit up with excitement as he's smiling cutely, flashing his bunny tooth. "Can we go outside?! Can we?! Please!" Seongmin rushed towards me and held both of my hands, flashing me his puppy eyes that he knows I can't reject. I sighed, I was planning to sleep in today but I can't upset my brother since this happens once every year. It doesn't matter if I don't get enough sleep, as long as my brother had fun and his happiness is all that matters.

"Alright, okay, you got me, but only after our breakfast." I said, walking to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for us. "Okay!" Seongmin said, running into the kitchen, taking a seat on the countertop stool. "Pancakes?" I said, already taking out the frozen pancakes from the freezer because I am too lazy to do it from scratch. Without hearing any replies from Seongmin, I began placing some pancakes on a plate before microwaving them.

After eating our breakfast, I ordered Seongmin to get ready while I was cleaning the plate. I went to one of our rooms and began to take out all of our winter outerwear, coats, jackets, beanies, scarves, and mittens. I then went to my bedroom to change into a hoodie I got from my 5-years boyfriend, Serim, and long jeans I found in my wardrobe.

I wore my jacket on my hoodie before putting on my long coat, wrapping my scarf on my neck followed by my mittens. "Seongmin ah! Come here." I called him, as he was ready by the door only wearing a hoodie and long jeans, "Are you going out like that?" I laughed at him before motioning him to come closer, he giggled before running towards me and wrapping his arms around my coat, hugging and squeezing me at the same time. "Hey! Hey! Hey! I can't breathe!" I said, pulling him away before putting on all the outerwear on him that I did to myself earlier on. "Ready?" I asked Seongmin, "Yes~!" he sang, I then ruffled his hair before picking up our house keys on the countertop and went to unlock the door.

The first thing I felt when I opened the door was a gush of strong cold wind entering my house before it became a soft gentle breeze. The wind whispered as the snow fell like confetti, I gazed at the untouched snow in front of me. The swirling white and the lush grass collided. The shrubs and trees were stained with white, the ground was as smooth as a cake and the snow fell like icing powder, perfecting it to its finest point.

"Wow~!" We both were in awe at the sight of the snow, I looked at Seongmin and he was already smiling at me, I smiled back and nudged my head towards the snow, he then got my message, screaming and running before hugging the thick snow on the floor. I laughed at him, turning around to lock the door before walking slowly to explore the other parts of the snow.

The street looked like an unfinished painting. So much of the canvas was still perfectly white as if waiting for the artist's hand to return. The morning light struggled through the murky cloud, but even in its weakness, it was enough to the blind. I took a deep breath, taking in the smell of snow before exhaling through my mouth, a thick cloud of smoke came into my vision before disappearing into the cold air. I smile before walking over to Seongmin to take his photo.

"Seongmin ah~ look over here~" I called out to him, pointing my phone's camera to him on the floor making snow angels, he smiled at me and made a peace sign near his eyes, flashing his cute bunny tooth too. I felt something behind me but I didn't care because I was still taking photos and maybe it was the cold windy weather blowing at me. After a while, Seongmin started to do some funny moves, like laying down on his side with his right leg up in the air and him trying to act sexy. I started laughing and was going to ask what he was doing when I got startled by someone behind me, "Hey! Seongmin what ar-" "Oh~ Seongmin sexy~" I turned around startled to see Serim giggling at Seongmin before looking at me.

"Hey!" I exclaimed, giving him a soft smack on his forearm, causing him to giggle again, "When did you arrive here?" I asked him, "Since the moment I watched you stepping out of your house?" he questioned back, making me giving him a soft smack again, "Then why didn't you come to me? I was waiting for you!" I said, recalling myself messaging him earlier during my breakfast with Seongmin. "I was going to! But then I thought that you look so cute admiring the scenery." Serim flashed his cute gummy smile at me, I blushed at his little flirting before turning back to Seongmin, only to find him missing, "Hm? Where did that kid go?" I looked around before finding Serim with his suspicious smile, "What did you do?" I asked him, knowing him, probably he would give my brother some money to go somewhere else. "I may or may not offer to give him some money so I can have alone time with my girlfriend?" he questioned, earning a third smack of the day from me.

"You could have just asked for it, I just brought him to countless candies and ice cream stores yesterday!" I can't help but to scold him, "Maybe he would go to the arcade this time?" he said again, I pinch both of his cheeks hard, "You!!!" I said, having no idea how to reply to his cute tactics in getting us alone. "I know you want to be alone with me too~" he said, flashing his cute smile before giggling. I let out a sigh in defeat before smiling back at him, "Come on, let's go." I said before walking towards a bench by the tree, I heard a chuckle, feeling Serim's hand grabbing mine and holding in his, swinging our hands.

We reached the bench when I saw that the bench was covered in snow.

I have an idea.

"Hey, Serim?" I called for him beside me, "Yes babe?" he replied, making me blush at the nickname, I pulled him towards me with his back facing the bench. He didn't notice because he was busy staring and waiting for my answers, "Guess what?" I said, smirking at him, he was confused "Wha-" I pushed him by the stomach before he could even finish his words, he fell towards the bench before his butt came in contact with the snow on the bench. "TAKE THAT!" I started laughing because he looked very lost and startled at the moment, you should have seen his face!

While I was busy laughing at him, I didn't notice he had already composed himself, he then started laughing too before saying "Your turn!" I knew what he was about to do so I quickly turned around hoping I could escape but I was too slow. Serim grabbed my wrist, pulling me to him and I landed on top of the snow, the coldness was all I felt in my butt through my thick coat, making me stay still because the more I moved, the more snow I felt, melting underneath my butt.

"HEY!" I screamed, clenching both of my fists hovering just above my lap, shivering from the cold. Now it's his turn to laugh at me, "You should have seen your face! Haha!" He said, I then threatened to hit him with one of my fists, glaring at him.

Serim put his arm around me and giggled, pulling me closer to him, "I'm sorry, I love you~" he then started to peck all over my face, "I love you too~" I replied, hugging his waist after he stopped kissing me all over my face. We admired the scene in front of us, snow on everything we see, enveloping everything in a calm, silent coldness that was comforting in its special way.

"Y/N?" Serim called me, "Yes?" I answered waiting for his reply, "Thank you so much for being with me and I'm glad we get to spend winter together." He said, looking and smiling at me, "Me too." I smiled back, he then leaned in and connected our lips. It was slow and soft, comforting in ways that words would never be. His right hand rested below my ear, his thumb caressing my cheek as our breaths mingled. We then broke the kiss, staring at each other's eyes and smiling.

"Hey, babe?" Serim calls again, "Yea?" I said, still staring into his beautiful eyes that captured my soul in the first place, "Guess what?" he said, "What?" I answered, I then felt a sudden cold wet substance down my back, I got shocked and then Serim suddenly laughed and ran away, that's when I realised he is the one dumping snow on my back with his left hand while I was staring into his soul.

"YAH PARK SERIM!!!!"
