Since the promise that I gave Quentin at the hospital, things got worse. Noticable scars spread on his body and that once so shy boy turned into a silent one. His eyes lost every sparkle and looked dead. Freddy was changing him. He was hurting him. Quentin receives pain after pain after pain, and that all because of me.
If I wouldn't have gave him the promise a few weeks ago, then I would have stoped taking those damn pills. I couldn't stand the fact that my friend was slowly dying in front of my eyes. Every scar was a warning to me, Freddy made that pretty clear.
When I asked Quentin how he was doing or if I could help him somehow, he would always throw a look of pure terror my way and would decline every offer. He was keeping distance between me and himself when he enters a room and avoided me at any costs. I started to believe that some anger grew inside that man, because he was protecting me from the wrath of Freddy.
That's until he didn't come over with Nancy. She told me that he was feeling sick, but I knew she was lying. He wasn't here on purpose. A sad sigh escaped my lips as I inspected on of the old pictures on my phone. It was from Quentin, Nancy and I. We took it a few days ago and you could practically see the terror in the eyes of Quentin as my hand reached for his shoulder.
I didn't know the reason, nore why he suddenly changes in front of my eyes, but I woidlbg give up that easily. He ment a lot to me. He and Nancy.
That's when I made my way to his house a few blocks away. Anger and sadness over rushed my once so calm emotions. I knocked on the door and after a few seconds the door was opened by a tired Quentin. His smile instantly vanished as soon as he saw me and tried to close the door on me."Are you really treating a friend like that?" I questioned as I stepped a foot in, preventing the door to shut.
"You n-n-need to leave." He said in his usual stutter and his looked at me, silently pleading for me to go.
"Quentin." I said in a warning tone. "Tell me what's wrong!"
"Nothing is wrong! Just go!" He yelled and pushed me away before he shut the door in front of my face. I stood in front of the door, dumbfounded and sad at the same time.
I knocked again and tried to look through one of the windows. But as soon as I did that he pulled the curtains in front of it, instantly blocking my sight."Quentin. Open the door, please!" I pleaded as I knocked again and even rang the bell. But there was no use. He was completely shutting me out of his life with his actions and left me wondering why.
He never acted this way and the most concerning part is the way he looks at me. He looked at me like I was some sort of monster.
"Quentin!" I yelled again, silently crying as I knocked the door again.
After an hour I gave up, I walked home. My head was spinning and many questions were rushing around my mindpalast. I was confused. I was hurt and the depression that started to build inside me, didn't make it easier for me.
I tried to contact Nancy and asked her for advice about Quentin or why he was acting so strangely lately, but she didn't know the keys to the answer as well. She stated that he was acting like always and that he was normal around her, there were no form or signs of changes at all.
She promised me that she would talk with him about it, but this conversation was almost a month ago and she never called again. The feeling of being unwanted and the feeling of discomfort was unbearable and thats when I made the decision. That's when I broke the promise that I gave Quentin not to long ago. I decided to go to bed without the pills.
