Another day begins, I arrived at school and head to my locker.
As I placed my stuff and shutting it, Kit suddenly appeared right behind. "Woah!" I said, backing off in shock. He began laughing while holding his stomach. "Sorry, I didn't mean to--" He finished his laugh. "--Scare you." He sighed, still smiling widely. "Why did you have to do that?" I said in annoyance. "I seriously didn't mean to scare you, I swear. I do that everytime to other girls and they would only hug me and tell me how they love me so much." He explained. "That's a lot of me's. What do you want?" I asked. "I need to tell you something, my parents wants to meet yours. They're so eager that they invited them to dinner tonight." He said. What? I don't want my parents to get involve with your parents okay? "I'll tell them about that later." I said. "Great, see you!" He said and walked away. I sighed heavily, why is his parents eager to meet mine? This is only for a science project, not some kind of play date or something! I hit my locker lightly and walk towards my classroom.
After school, I waited outside as usually. I observed the blue sky while covering the bright sun, I can't wait to finish high school and just live peacefully. There was a time I was excited being a freshman, but things changed dramatically after Lily moved to New York with her parents. Since then, I am who I am now. I tried making new friends, but I couldn't fit well with them. I would always end up feeling, different. Nothing feels the same without Lily here, she was the source of my energy for me to come to school. I sighed heavily. I wish-- "Why are you always alone?" Kit's voice sounded from behind, I turn around to see him standing near me. "It's none of your business." I answered. Then, he sat beside me. "You're always alone. Even in class, you seem to not interact with anyone but your desk." He said. I ignored his statement. "Hey, am I talking to the air right now? Why aren't you answering me?" He asked while waving his hand in front of my face. "Because I want to be alone." I said. "Why?" He asked. "Because I want to be alone." I answered. "Yeah, but why do you want to be alone?" He asked. "Because I want to be alone." I answered. "I'm asking why--" "--Because I want to be alone." I cut him off. "But why--" "--Because I want to be alone." I said. "Can you stop--" "--Because I want to be alone." I said. "Seriously, it's getting annoying." He said. I sighed while facing down. "Kit, you should focus on our project more than your partner." I said. "I'm just worried okay? I just happen to heard that you don't have friends today." He said. "And where did you heard that?" I asked. "From my friends." He said.

"Hey, I'm still working on your hair!" Gwen said as she continued to braid Kate's hair. "Okay, sorry sorry." Kate said and sat still. Kit was staring at Sam, who was sitting quietly a few rows away from him. "You seem oddly quiet Kit." Kate said. "He's just thinking about what should he do for his next Tik Tok video." Gwen said. "Kit, there's this cool song I found, I think it would get viral if we do it together. You know, like the last time." Cole said. Kit was too distracted about Sam, he recently realise that Sam doesn't talk to anyone in class. "Guys, what do you know about Sam?" Kit asked. "Sam?" Gwen said, then they look at her. "Hey hey hey, don't look at her." Kit said while patting their shoulders in panic. "Well, she's always alone since.. Freshman?" Kate said. "Yeah, I talked to her once. She seems really nice and outgoing, but that was two years ago. Never talked to her anymore." Gwen said. "I never spoke to her." Cole said. "Hmm.." Kit hummed. "Why, do you like her?" Cole asked while smiling. "Come on, she's definitely not his type. Right Kit? You like the type of girl who's outspoken, you said that before." Gwen said. "I didn't said she wasn't my type. I just said that I like outspoken people, it's not about a type of girl I like." Kit said. "So you do like her?" Cole asked still smirking. "I also didn't said that, I'm just curious about my lonely science partner." Kit said. "Oh, That Sam is your partner? I thought it was Samantha." Kate said. "Kate, she's the only Samantha in our class." Gwen said. "Oh really?" Kate said. "You're so stupid." Gwen said. "Don't call her that, come on." Kit said. "Sorry, I can't help it." Gwen apologized. "Serves you, Kit's the only guy I know supports me." Kate said. "Hey, I supported you way longer than him okay?!" Gwen said. "What about me? I support you!" Cole said. As they started bickering, Kit can't help but worry about Sam.

"Thanks for letting me know, you talked behind my back." I said. "I wasn't talking behind your back, I just knew you were the type of person who would hide their feelings." Kit said. "I don't hide my feelings." I said. "You do." Kit said. "No, I don't." I said. "Whatever, you do hide your feelings." Kit said. "So what? It doesn't matter because it's not your business to care about." I said. "Yeah, I guess you're right." Kit said. Then it became quiet. Finally silence, something I need right now. "Can you at least tell me--" "--Because I don't want to tell, why do you keep asking me that question?! Do you like, have a crush on me or something?!" I shouted while standing in front of him. He looked at me in shock. "Sorry, I didn't mean to say that." I said and sat further away from him. Damn it, I shouldn't have said that! "I guess I do." He said, I instantly froze. Is he actually serious? "I don't mean it in a romantic kind of way, I just thought maybe I want to be your friend." He said, I sighed nervously. "Wow, you got me the wrong way." I said. "W-what?" He said. "It's nothing." I said. "Anyway, I just want to be your friend that's all." He said. "Are you sure? I mean, I'm not that talkative and I like being alone. And I'm not used to being around someone like you." I said. "Someone like me?" He asked. "Yeah, you're the life of a party type of guy right? Plus, you're famous." I said. "Hey, I'm not the life of a party type of guy okay. I don't party that much." He said. "Okay, whatever you say." I said. He's very bad at lying. "I'm serious, I've been to a few parties. But I'm usually the quietest there." He said. "Really?" I asked. "Yes, swear to God." He said as he held his hand. "Alright then, since you're the first one. I'll try my best not to judge you." I said honestly. "Thanks, I appreciate your kindness. " He said. Wow, this is actually the first time someone wanted to be friends with me. Moreover, he's one of the heartthrobs in this school. But is being friends with a heartthrob a good idea? Then my parents arrived, "That's my parents. Maybe you should tell them about your parents." I said as I stood up. "Oh, okay." He said. Then, we went towards their car. I bended over and knocked on the window, it was my father who was staring ahead and my mother busy looking at her phone. He looked at me and slides down the window. "Dad, about my science project." I said. "What about it?" He asked. "Urm, my partner. Kit Dugens, his parents want you two to have dinner with them." I said and stood properly. I looked at Kit was pacing his feet all over, I signalled him to come forward. He quickly went near. "Hello, Mr. Griffin!" He spoke while smiling widely. "Well hello there, I didn't knew that the partner of Sam's science project would be such a gentleman." Dad said and glanced over me, I smiled sarcastically. "So, my parents invited you two for a dinner at our house after me and Sam's project." Kit said charismatically. "Oh, that's really nice. Honey, are you hearing this?" Dad said to Mom, who wasn't paying attention at all. "Huh?" She looked over, and sees Kit. "I approved." She said.
What? "Sorry, Mrs. Griffin. I just came here to ask if you would like to have dinner at my parents house after me and Sam's project." Kit said again. "Of course, as long as it's free." Mom said and laughed. "That's a guarantee." Kit said and chuckled along. "Well then, I suppose we'll see you this evening." Dad said. "Alright, thank you." Kit said. "No, thank you." Mom said back. "Alright then, let's get going." Dad said to me. "See you later." I said and went inside. "Okay." He said. Then, I went inside the car and we drove off. "Wow, he looks just like your father." Mom said. "Yes, it reminded me of my younger self." Father said. "Eww, no." I said. "Everyone was so crazy for him, but in the end he was mine." Mom said and cherish his cheek. "You are beautiful yourself, every guy would chase you." Dad said. "No, I don't remember it that way." Mom said. Then they started passing compliments to each other as if it was a competition, I find it cute and disgusting at the same time.
