I brush my dainty fingers over a heart and initials carved deep within the oak tree. It's been ten years since I've been back here. Memories flood across my mind as I gaze into the sunlight peeking through the branches. I take in the beautiful scenery atop a naked green hillside. Remembering a love, a love so real i can still feel the sting fresh on my heart.
I forcefully wipe away a tear that falls prematurely and inhale a sharp breath.
This was my happy place growing up, I would spend every summer here with my grandparents. Help them out on the farm and with chores around the house. It was quiet and peaceful there. I loved it, it was my escape from the normal world back home in Sandusky, Ohio.
You see my grandparents had a love so genuine it would make any hopeless romantic jealous. The love they had for each other was what I always dreamed of having. For me, I cherished every second I spent there.
Closing my eyes I run my fingers across the chipped bark of the tree that was once the center of my world.
I never expected to find what I found there beneath the shade of the oak tree. What I found was something remarkable, something magical...

A story only I can tell.
