"Sweetie, we're here." Harry's voice echoed through the car, trying to wake you up.
Today is his mother's birthday and as a tradition, Anne made sure she had the people she loved close to her, and that also included you and Gemma's boyfriend, who she had happily welcomed into her family.
"C'mon, baby." He tried again as he kissed your cheek, the tip of your nose, and then your neck, tickling you.
Harry had picked you up from your work and since his mother doesn't live so close to their home, he let you sleep on the seat next to him.  Knowing how tired you must have been, he had turned off the radio and rested your head on his coat.
Feeling a slight headache, your eyes slowly opened, realizing that it was already dark outside. "Sorry, didn't mean to sleep all the way here." You said in a slurred voice, still affected by sleep.  Normally, you would be awake with Harry, keeping him company while driving, probably singing a random radio song together or annoying him by saying he was turning the wrong way. But you couldn't even do it if you tried, lately your mind has been distant when it comes to Harry.
"We're a little late." You can feel his eyes on you while you weren't looking at him.  You sighed heavily, trying not to deposit your paranoid theories on him. You were feeling a little sad, but not to the point of bringing your concern to him and maybe causing a fight.
Stopping beside you at the front door, he touched the back of your hand slightly to his but as a reflex you withdrew it.
"M'sorry." You held his hand.  Everyone could see on his face that he had already realized something was wrong, you felt like a child having a tantrum. His face was serious, his eyebrows raised while you seemed to be avoiding him, totally lost in your own thoughts.
You saw his eyes find the floor as Gemma appeared to open the door after Harry pressed the intercom.
"Look if it's not my favorite sister-in-law?!" She greeted you excitedly, opening her arms and making a few jumps.
Failing to avoid the smile, you jumped into her arms. "I missed you." You laughed along with her.
Harry chuckled, happy to see the two of you together after almost a year without seeing each other. "What about you, Harry? When are you two of getting married?" Gemma asked playfully. Nobody could deny that you didn't love each other, all the ways and looks.  Harry always tried to be around you because he knew you were shy and he wanted to make sure that you were comfortable.
Biting your lower lip, you wondered if he would really like to marry you in the near future.  Without looking at them again, holding each other and talking, you went to meet with his mother, who was probably around the house that you were already so familiar with.
After greeting Gemma's boyfriend and wishing Anne a happy birthday, Harry came up to you, wrapped his waist around your arms and kissed your cheek. Hugging him, you noticed your breathing calming as your mind punished you for thinking that he wouldn't love you like she did.  It seemed strange to embrace him, at that moment the heat of his body wasn't feeling like home, but rather uncomfortable.
"I think I'm going to check on Lili, okay?" You warned him, referring to the dog. Stroking Harry's jaw and placing a quick kiss on his lips.
"Problems in paradise, baby boy?" His sister spoke kind of mocking on him, but also a little worried. "She seems a little off, the two of you are avoiding looking each other in the eye .." Gemma's voice was quieter at the end as she watched you walk into the yard.
"I don't know, she looks tired of me," He rubbed his fingers through his temple. "I am afraid that she's preparing me to break up with me." Harry vented out, sighing heavenly.
His reaction made Gemma laugh out loud and put her hand on her stomach as if he were talking one of the biggest jokes. "No, Y/N's so busy being in love with you that she couldn't think of breaking up."
Harry felt his lips curving, feeling happy with her choice of words, but soon returning to normal when remembering the situation. "I don't know what to do, if the problem was with me, she would talk to me, right?"
"Harry maybe she's not feeling well to talk about 'it' right now, whatever is going on. This is not a big deal."
"You should talk to her." He mumble with wide eyes.
"Talk to her? You should talk to her."
"C'mon, Gem. Just talk to her and then you can tell me what she says... better, I could hear you talking to her." Harry knew he was being crazy but he needs to see you happy around him again, it was like he missed you but you're right there in front of his eyes.
"If she gets mad at me I will kill you."
Sitting on the lawn, you had the dog on your lap while Lili turned her belly towards you, asking for more of your affection.
"You and Harry should adopt a dog." Gemma came to you, sitting next to you.
"I'd love to, but Harry's always traveling, I don't think it'd be a good idea." You whispered, looking at her and then turning your attention to the dog with a small smile on your lips.
Upon hearing this, Harry felt bad and made a mental note to try to adopt a pet with you, because it would be a great idea, you would have a memory of him while he was on tour.
"The two of you are okay?" Gemma exhaled through her nose. "I mean, you guys seems a little off."
"Oh, I care too much about my thoughts. Harry is wonderful, he doesn't look off, it surprises me that she hasn't asked me what is wrong yet .." you took a deep breath. "He's too wonderful to be real."
"Ooh, so sweet," She chuckled. "But you're fine?  do you want to talk about it?" Gemma murmured, your eyes filled with tears, making her heart sink, just like Harry's, who was listening intently to the conversation.
"It's stupid, y'know? It's just that he showed me one of the songs from his new album and I can't stop thinking that maybe he still has feelings for the person in the song ... It's stupid I know."
"It's not stupid, darling."
"It's strange to know that the song is about her, about how he misses her and that he still interacts with her, I swear I trust him and that's why I'm afraid to talk to him, I'm afraid that he thinks I don't trust him." You felt your tears run down your cheeks as you tried to control yourself not to sob. "Camille looks so mature, I bet she wouldn't be worried about a song."
Realization invading Harry's head when he realized that he had shown you Cherry but never explained what it was about or who it was about, he left all the assumptions for you.
"They've been together for a long time, in the past and now he loves you, Y/N. They don't even see each other anymore, there's nothing to worry about."
"Photos of Harry and Camille together came out on the media on Wednesday, it's all over the internet.  I know he owes me no explanation about anything he does, but I wish he had talked to me about it." You admitted, closing your eyes tightly.
"He did what?" She asked in surprise, thinking that she had a good reason to kill her brother now.
"Gem, could you let me talk to Y/N alone?" Harry interrupted, coming out of the trees, making the noise of the bushes get your attention as approaching you.
"I can't believe you are seeing Camille while you are with Y/N." His sister raised her voice. Your gaze hovered over her and Harry as you realized that he had sent her there.
"I wouldn't cheat on her." Harry frowned as if she were crazy to think such a thing. "I didn't cheat on you," His eyes met your. "I can't believe you're acting this way just because of something so stupid." He sighed heavily, running his hands through his hair.
"Something stupid?" You scoffed. "You just sent your sister to come and talk to me for you."
"Because you're avoiding me, I've been trying to talk to you all week but it feels like I'm not there for you."
"I said that I was fine." You could feel the knot in your throat growing. "And I don't know why you're so worried about it now, since you think the things that make me worried are so stupid."
"God, how I wish I didn't have to deal with you all the time." He whispered, half-raising his voice, not wanting his mother to hear him.
Feeling the tears you were holding running down your cheek, you wiped it away with the back of your hand.
Deep down you knew that in moments of fights everyone says things that they didn't mean, but in that moment it had hit you hard. "You forgot my birthday last week, it was the same day your photos with Camille came out, you seemed happy with her," You chuckled through your watery eyes. "It's ok with you are falling out of love with me, I just wish you could let me now. Don't wanna be a rebound."
Your voice echoed on his mind, how had he forgotten your birthday?  even though he was on tour he always remembered to call you or call the florist in the city where the you worked and ask them to deliver it to you. He still had the memories of your last birthday in his mind. He was on a business trip in Italy so he cannot be with you, that day he had set aside time just for you, he had made a video call and spent four hours on the phone with you until you fell asleep, he even sang for you your favorites songs.
"Jesus, you really messed up. She didn't even want to leave the house waiting for your call." Gemma exhaled, directing her attention to her shoes.  Harry is paralyzed as the sound of the gate slams into his head over and over again, watching your steps as you leave his mom's house.
"Fuck, I'm such a idiot." His hands run through his hair desperately, his rings sticking to his locks as he messed it up. "Do you think mom'll mind if I leave now?" He muttered, looking like his lungs were out of breath.  His hands fumbling in his pockets, looking for the car key.
"Of course not, and do you really think she didn't realize that something was wrong between the two of you?" Gemma gave him a small smile, trying to calm him down. "Just don't do anything stupid again and go talk to her, I'll cover up for you."
Harry nodded, kissing her forehead and whispering a 'thank you'.  Not finding the keys in his pockets, he sighed heavily, wondering how far you should be already, maybe you're not even going home.
His eyes roamed the street as his eyebrows rose in confusion as he saw his car where he had parked. Walking over to him, Harry saw you sitting with your head pressed against the steering wheel, your hands squeezing it tightly as your shoulders swayed.  You never cried after a fight, you always managed to hold on your emotions pretty well, but now all that went inside your head was how your relationship could be near the end.
"Y/N, I'm sorry." He said out of breath, opening your door. Feeling his chest ache with guilt as he saw you wipe away your tears quickly. "I swear I don't feel anything for her anymore.  I just met her to ask for permission to put her voice in the song, I'd never do that to you, I love you." Harry clenched his fist, making his nails form half moons in his palm as he felt his tears run down his face. You kept your head down without looking at him. "The song was written days after she did what she did ... it expresses what I felt that day, like in the past. " He sobbed, seeing that you were still crying too. "Please, look at me. I didn't mean to forget your birthday too, I was busy with work, I'm so idiot."
Sniffing, you hugged yourself with your arms, feeling ridiculous for being jealous. "You were right, I shouldn't have ignored you for something so stupid, I'm sorry too." You rubbed your face with your finger.
"No, baby," Harry took your hand, bringing you to his chest. "It's not stupid, I should have heard you.  I don't want you to think that you can't speak to me when something is bothering you, because you must speak and I will try to understand." He kissed your hair as you nuzzled your face in his neck. "I will always be ready to hear you, okay?" Your voice came out soft, encouraging you to share how you were feeling.
"I can't stop thinking about the lyrics of the song since you showed it to me, when I saw you were with her on my birthday ... I couldn't help but think that maybe you miss her and still want her around." You wrapped your arms around his waist, pressing his body against yours. "I was afraid of losing you, I was preparing myself so that when you broke up with me it wouldn't hurt so much." The last part came out almost inaudible, your face pressed to his neck as you tried to hide how embarrassed you were.
"I won't break up with you, never." He chuckled quietly. "I should have called you, but Jeff said it was a delicate topic to talk through the phone. I should have told you that I'd see her again, I should have told you more about the song before I sang it to you, I should have call you last week-"
"Shh," you murmured, feeling a little bit better. "It's ok, I acted like a kid because I was jealous.  I trust you, I was just upset that I wanted you to be here with me on my birthday instead of being with her. She was important to you once and I understand that."
He smiled softly, stroking your cheek, making you look at him. "I will make it up to you, because there is nothing more important for me than you, baby." Harry sealed his pink lips with yours while his nose blushed with with the red tip of yours.
"So cheesy." You grinned, wrinkling your nose as he hugged you again. "But I like it."
Caressing your back, he placed a kiss on you neck. "Do you want to come and talk to my mom again? or get out of the car?" He asked laughing, feeling his arms ache for being standing in the same position for so long, leaning on the seat just to be able to hug you.
"You can hold me just for a few more minutes?" You replied, nuzzling yourself in his embrace.
He smiles to himself watching you adjust yourself in his arms, getting more comfortable. Harry responded you by bringing you as close to him as possible, enjoying the warm of your body in contact with his.
