"You fall in love with the most unexpected person at the most unexpected time."
Hi, my name's Win Metawin. My whole life, I believed love didn't exist. At least, not until the summer of 2019. When I first met him.
Vachirawit. Bright Vachirawit.
And let me tell you, Love really is beautiful.
Going back 5 years ago, I admit, I was a dumb kid. A dumb kid with a beautiful family and a girlfriend who loved me a lot. I was only twenty-one years old at that time. I didn't know know anything about love. In fact, like I said, I didn't believe in love. My girlfriend, Yuri, was beautiful. She had a good personality, perfect facial feautures, and long silky hair. Exactly my type.
We dated for exactly 3 years. During those 3 years, I tried hard to love her back but it never worked. I didn't think love was made for me so we broke up right after school ended (Freshman in college).
I remember laying in bed watching action movies on netflix. The one where Jackie Chan taught karate to a kid. Oh right, Karate Kid. I was so focused until I heard a car pulling up in the driveway. I went over to the window and looked out.
I sighed.
It was the family of 2 from America. They were staying in Bangkok for the summer. Which meant we had to share the house.
Why couldn't they stay at someone else's place, you ask? The mother and my mom were bestfriends.
"Win! Come downstairs!", I heard my mom yelling.
I ran downstairs and greeted them.
"Sawasdee krub", I remember saying politely.
The mother smiled at me and nodded.
"Meet my son".
I looked up and saw a guy around the same height as me.
"Hey, my name's Win Metawin", I introduced myself as I took my hand out for a shake.
"Hi", he smiled. "I'm Bright Vachirawit".
We shook hands.
"It's nice to meet you"
"It's nice to meet you too"
Bright... Even his name still gives me butterflies in my stomache.
"Win, go show Bright the room you're sharing", my mother interrupted.
"The room we're sharing??", I exclaimed.
I hated sharing stuff with anyone. Hence, a room? I sighed and nodded.
"Follow me", I said and Bright nodded.
I took one of his luggage and lead him upstairs to my room. He looked so surprised.
"You have a T.V in your room?", he asked.
I stared at him, confused.
"You don't?", I asked.
"Nah"
"I thought everyone in America had T.V's in their room"
Bright chuckled.
"Who told you that? Not everyone has it."
I nodded.
"Anyways, Bright, how old are you?"
"twenty-two"
I gasped, "You're older than me?"
He nodded and he walked over to the bed.
