••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••" Darling what about him, he's charming. " My mother said going through the 58th photograph of eligible lords in Landberg.
My mother is a small woman with a heart-shaped face, small honey-brown eyes, a round nose, small heart-shaped lips, and soft curved eyebrows, wearing a cream dress with elbow-length sleeves decorated with blue patterns all over accompanied with Cream flats.
" No, mother. " I said patting down my dress simulator to hers but in blue and white.
For the past month, mother has been trying to wed me off to any lord that has a dent in his pocket."But sweetie he's handsome, rich and he's a Marquess, what more could you want?" she asked with annoyance clear as day in her voice.
"I want to marry for love, not money." I said calmly as I walked over to the window in the living room, It's a wonderful day to go for a walk to that flower shop in town.
She was angry, she got up and walked over to me, she was fuming from ear to ear.
She swing her right hand to smack me in my face, I caught her wrist before it collided with my face."Don't you dare ever to put a hands on me" I glared at her, but something else grasped my attention, where I held her hand was glowing a bright hue then it died down.
I looked at my mother's face, looking at nothing in particular like a trance or daze. I quickly released her and step back looking at my hands to find the glow again.
"I'm sorry dear, I don't know what came over me, it won't happen again." she apologized and went to the kitchen.
If I wasn't shocked about the glowing from my hand then am certainly shocked my mother apologized to me instead of lecturing me about how unladylike to talk back to her.
What on God's earth just happen?
•••••After that weird incident, I decided to go for a walk, I got my gloves and hat and went out to buy some flowers from the flower shop in town
On my way, men and women said hello and even tried to kiss my hand.
The streets were busy today as horse-drawn carriages come from both ends of the road. People who society considers poor had little market to make just enough to provide for their families."My lady could you spear some coin, my son hasn't eaten since yesterday" she begged.
I gave her 30 coins which should be enough to feed her family.
"God bless you my lady" She smiled and walked over to the carts to buy food.It always amazes me how the Court of Landberg is so wealthy but there are so many people on the streets living.
The flower shop was an open area between two buildings, different flowers organized by color in rows. It's one of the few places I can go without males trying to seduce me, it's so irritating that I have to remember to behave like a proper lady.
"Good day lady Nora what type of flowers would you like today." the owner of the shop asked.
"Some roses would do just fine sir Hector." I said giving him a smile.
"Follow me." he said walking to the back where the rose and some other bright-colored flowers are kept, there were even some forget me nots that have a mythical background not many believe in magical creatures.
"What color do you want them in Lady Nora." he asked looking through the different roses.
"Umm how about blue, red and pink this time" I responded as he made it into a bouquet, we walked back to the front.
"That would be two coins my lady" I gave him the coins and said my goodbye.
The roses smelt lovely and looked absolutely divine in the sunlight, 15 minutes into my walk home I felt like someone was following me but when I turned around no one was there.
Dread filled the pits of my stomach as my sense was telling me something wasn't right.
I walked briskly up the porch steps open the door and closed it once inside.
I closed the curtains and went for a vase with water for my rose, placed them in the vase, and put it on the dining table."Where have you been young lady supper is almost finished go and freshen up before your father returns home." My mother yelled from the kitchen.
I did as I was told and went to have a bath and clean clothes. Father came home early today.
"Father, I would like to discuss some-" I stopped mid-sentence when I made the turn to the dining table When I noticed that we had company.
The gentleman standing in my dining room was very tall to be exact I doubt he even could walk straight through the door frame, he was wearing a tailored suit with a red tie and black church shoes. Black silky hair slicked back, thick eyebrows, strong chiseled face, full plumped lips, and a small perfectly groomed mustache.
"Dear this is lord Michael" mother practically dragged me over to the lord.
"Lady Nora it's a pleasure to meet you" his baritone voice rang in the air as he take my hand and planted a kiss on my knuckles.
"As to you sir," I said placing a small smile on my face.
Dinner was ever so uncomfortable lord Michael wouldn't stop looking at me or asking questions.
"Why aren't you married yet lady Nora?"He asked after wiping his mouth with a napkin." Well Nora here wants to marry for love as she puts it, she refuses to marry a man because of his money. " my mother answered for me.
"Veronica, it's her decision to make not yours. " my father said sternly to my mother.
My mother shrieked farther into her seat and ate quietly."Not many women marry for love anymore, I think that's a good thing happiness is everything after all." lord Michael said looking at nothing in particular.
But what I didn't know was after today I wouldn't be happy as I always dreamed of.
