A/N: Elite Force fic! Written during the episode "The Rock" based around the idea of what if Skylar hadn't gotten the idea to use the arcturion to heal Bree

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"That's weird. I didn't even fire at full strength. Hold on... When my lightning blast ricocheted off the orb, it must've magnified my power. That's why you're–"
Bree collapses to the ground and Skylar calls out for her. Panic overwhelms Skylar as she gets down on her knees and carefully moves Bree into her arms. She needs to go to find help. The others will know what to do. She super speeds into the tunnels, trying not to justle around Bree too much, who was drifting in and out of consciousness.
Kaz was just checking on AJ, who they had just saved when he saw Skylar come bulleting into the tunnels and stopped right next to him.
"Kaz! Oliver! Help! The lightning blast hurt her!"
Chase came running over, concern for his sister showing on his face. Kaz leans down the check her pulse while Oliver looks for breathing.
"She's got a pulse, but it's weak!"
"Her breathing is shallow too!"
Skylar could feel tears brimming her eyes, it was all her fault. If she hadn't shocked Bree, if she used a different power, Bree would be fine right now. Oliver seemed to know exactly what she was thinking.
"It's not your fault Skylar."
"We can worry about whose fault it is later! We need to get Bree to the hospital!"
"I'll super speed her there."
(* _*) Meet Tim, your time skip friend!
The Elite Force gathered around their teammates hospital bed. Skylar was teary eyed, Chase was scribbling down her vitals in case they changed at all, and Oliver and Kaz were trying to comfort Skylar while explaining to the nurses what happened. They had concluded the best thing to do was call an old doctor from mighty med who hadn't been there when it was destroyed. The doctor arrived about an half a hour later.
"Okay, what happened?"
The normal nurses who just thought it was bionics stepped out, leaving the team and the doctor.
"I hit her with my lightening blast, it shouldn't have hurt her that bad but it bounced off the Arcturion space rock it magnified!"
"Yeah, what she said"
Oliver said, glancing over at Chance who was sitting next to Bree, looking concerned. He finally spoke up,
"I've been monitoring her vitals and they keep dropping, the lightning has damaged her heart."
"We'll just have to monitor her, it will recover on its own. She should be fine, she needs rest though. That means all of you should go home, the nurses can take care of her."
Oliver, Kaz, and Chase get and leave, but Skylar doesn't.
"It's all my fault.  She's hurt because of me!"
Skylar half falls in the chair set up by Bree's bed and starts to sob into her shirt.
All Bree can hear is faint sobs. She can't tell who it is, but it urges her to open her eyes. But they feel so heavy. Like she could sleep forever. Plus her chest felt really heavy, and it felt like something was constricting her chest. But the sobbing was getting louder and more urging. She managed to peel her eyes open and looked down to see Skylar crying.
"Sky-Skylar? What's uh going on?"
Bree lets out a long groan, and coughs, trying to make it easier to breathe. Skylar glances up, eyes glassy from crying.
"Bree! You're okay!"
She cries harder and hugs Bree tightly, refusing to let go.
"Uhh Skylar, are you alright? What's going on? Where's everyone? Why does it hurt so bad?"
Bree groans again and squeezes her eyes tight.
"I'll explain later. I need to do this right now, before I lose my chance."
Skylar moves up to Brees face and kisses her gently, scared to hurt her again. Bree melts into the kiss, until Skylar pulls back panicking that Bree was mad.
"Okay, thanks for that. But I need an explanation."
"One more than I'll explain?"
"Sure."
