"Make way! Make way!" A black Keronian shouted running and pushing his peers out of the way. He was stopped by his commander telling him to explain his behavior. He couldn't hold in his excitement and blurted out loud, "My baby's having a wife! I mean my wife's having a baby! I- I need to go now!" Running around his commander, he shouted back waving. "Congrats Yukiki!"
Never had Yukiki been so excited in his life. This was going to be his very first child and he didn't know which gender it would be, for he and his wife had decided to make it a surprise. Running through the streets of Keron with a smile across his face Yukiki could not wait to make it to the hospital. As Yukiki ran in to the building straight to the elevator he quickly pressed the button for the floor his wife was on. Watching the arrow go from the top floor slowly down to the first floor after what seemed tot be the longest two minutes of his life, the elevator doors finally opened and he jumped inside quickly.
On his way up, he began to think of names for both genders. "If it's a boy, their name could be- No. It'll also depend on the color... But if it's a girl, then maybe their name could be- Awww no. That won't work either." Yukiki thought aloud as his floor got closer and closer.
Jumping out of the elevator he ran straight down the hall pushing some patients to the side of the wall and making doctors almost lose their clipboards. "Don't worry honey! I'm here! I'm here now!" Yukiki said as he entered the room trying to catch his breath. The screams of his wife in labor echoed within the room. She appeared to be in so much pain as Yukiki went up to her and held her hand.
She looked back at him with eyes of relief and sighed. "Yukiki..." she said weakly. "Yes? What is it love? Do you need more pain medication? Doctor!" he yelled for a doctor. She tugged at his arm and shook her head. "Yukiki please..." She winced as she had another contraction. Yukiki smiled hesitantly and held his wife's hand.
As the doctors came in they brought with them bad news. "She's having complications with her birth and we need to go into emergency surgery right now." They told Yukiki. Being asked to step outside as the doctors prepped his wife he felt such a horrible knot in his stomach. "I need to be with her now... I need to make sure she is alright." He whispered as the window fogged up where he spoke. He heard her screams as the doctors tried their best to calm her down.
Yukiki's eyes opened wide as he forced the door open and heard what was really going on. Machines were beeping everywhere as nurses were scrambling about getting medications. "Hurry, she's losing too much blood! Quick, take the baby into the next room and we'll take care of the patient." Yukiki couldn't believe what he was hearing. Yukiki's protective instincts kicked in as her ran to his wife. "Kibobo! Kibobo I'm coming!"
Being pushed back by the doctors and being told to think about how unreasonable he was acting he disregarded all they said. "I need to get to my wife now! She needs me!" Yukiki looked at his wife who appeared to be in agonizing pain. "Yuki..." she said quietly. Yukiki couldn't take it anymore and had broken the hold that the doctors and nurses had on him as he ran for his wife, grabbing her arm and her head, trying to remain as calm as he possibly could.
"Yuki... remember that I love you... so much..." Kibobo quietly said as the light in her eyes had begun to fade. "I- I love you too...b-but! D- don't say it like you're going to die! The doctors- they'll surely save you! I know it!" Yukiki stuttered as tears had begun to form in his eyes. Kibobo smiled lightly and held Yukiki's hand as tightly as she could. "Love, we've had an amazing time.... Over 20 years of the two of us... now I want you to take care of our daughter. Let her know that I loved her... and that I always will..."
"Kibobo! Kibobo no! Y- You're going to watch her grow up! You're going to be able to watch her grow into a nice young keronian! She'll- She'll change the world! Kibobo... you can't leave me now..." Despite the pain that she was going through, despite the sorrow that was in her husband's eyes, she knew that she had to let go now. "Take care of her Yukiki... I love you...always remember that." Kibobo said as she looked into the eyes of her husband on last time trying her best to keep her eyes from closing but succumbing to the feeling of relief as she sighed one last time.
