"So where are you taking me?" I ask Dave as we walk out of my house together. He had came to pick me up and ended up playing video games with Alonzo on the couch while I was getting ready. He told me to get cute so I'm stepping out in a dress reaching just below my knees and some slides to match.

"I'ma tell you when we get there."

I narrow my eyes as I look at him but decide to just let it be. He opens my door for me so I get seated and watch him walk around the car to make his way over to the driver's seat.

"This yours?" I ask, holding up a bottled water that I found in the side pocket since I need something to drink.

"Ari's. Why?"

"Just thirsty." I mumble, frowning at his response as I put the bottle back where I found it. Him and Ari are best friends but it never dawned on me for some reason that they actually be hanging out and shit. Of course they do. That's who he's with when he's not with me.

Jealousy starts creeping up on my ass so I just scroll through my phone, keeping quiet in case I say something I shouldn't. I didn't realize Dave was staring at me the whole time until he starts up the car, pulling off.

We pull up at the pier in just over 20 minutes and I raise my eyebrow, looking out the window. "Oh we back to find my shoes in the water? Cuz' I'on think we gon' find 'em."

Dave shakes his head. "Nah, shorty. We here for you to let go of 'em grudges."

My eyebrows furrow before raising in realization. Dave brought me here so we can visit my family's restaurant. I was stuck on what to say so I slouch back in my seat and fold my arms, glaring out of the window.

"I'm just tryna do your ass a fa—"

"It wasn't your place to bring me here, David." I say cutting him off.

"Bet."

I thought he was gonna start up the car and drive me back home but instead he stays sat behind the wheel as he scrolls through his phone like he's waiting for me to change my mind.

"Dave I'm not changing my mind." I say getting annoyed. He really brought me here after a long day at work when I could be taking a nap right about now.

"Look, I know what it is holding a grudge then regretting that shit as soon as it's too late. Yo' family the only people you can't replace no matter how much you try convincing yourself you can. Shit, you telling me you'on even miss being 'round yo' folks?"

"Of course I do! I miss everything about them but they did me wrong, David!" I say yelling. "I'on care how many times they apologize. They ruined everything for me. I wanted to go to college, follow my dreams, make something of myself instead of bending over backwards for some stupid rich entrepreneur but none of that shit worked out for me because nobody wanted to look out. I didn't ask to put up with none of this shit, it was put on me because people wanted to be selfish so excuse me for wanting to be selfish too!"
