Dear Diary,

HELLOOOOO!!!!

This is me, Violett.

Yes, my name is Violett Salcedo and this is my first entry ever.

I am 16 years old. I live here in Los Angeles, California, but I was born in Birdview, Montana.

My parents are both Hispanic, They came from Latin America many years ago and have always been proud of their heritage, so at home I hear mostly Spanish.

I do speak the language and I can even write it, but my spelling is awful.

Like I said, I am writing to you for the first time, so I'm not sure what exactly I'm supposed to say. I guess I can tell you everything, since I know you won't tell anyone.

I want you to have a name. Mmmm. Let's see.

It has to be a name that means something to me and to no one else.

Let's see. Who do I remember from my childhood?

We have Sonia, my best friend in kinder.

There is also Maritza, my best friend in the 5th grade.

I know!!! Your name is Kira.

She was my neighbor for a long time and I have great memories of her. I wonder what happened to her. Haven't seen her in years!

Okay. Thats's it then. Your name is Kira.

I thought of giving you a boy's name, but if you are a man, I couldn't trust with ALL my secrets, could I?

Now let me tell you a little about myself.

First things first. I have two names.

I don't mean a first and middle name. I mean I have two different names.

During the day, my name is Violett. I live with my mom and dad. I'm an only child. When I was born, they saw me, stared at me, admired me, and decided there was no way they could ever repeat such perfection.

So they decided not to have any more kids.

But late in the afternoon and at night, my name is different. Little by little you will understand why. My name then is ..... Vicky.

Actually, it's Victoria, but everyone knows me as Vicky.

Tomorrow I will explain why I use two names. Right now it's time for me to watch my favorite show, Bionic Woman. Talk to you tomorrow then!
