Hazel grabbed the piece of paper off of the printer. It was still warm, and the page was full of black ink. Another four quickly came out and she added it to the other. It was filled with even more typed words. Satisfied with her papers, she stacked them together, threw her coat on, pulled on her backpack, and left the library.
Thank the Gods for libraries, Hazel gushed mentally, I'm talking to you, Minerva.
If it wasn't for the campus library, she wouldn't have been able to get her term paper in. Last night she got one last email from her professor stating that her email wasn't letting her get emails from other professors and is deleting her's, soon to make a new one. She also notified all her students that this was in no way affecting the due dates for the term papers and she would expect them to be turned in on printed paper.
Hazel stapled the papers once before slipping them into her bag. She was just about to head out the door of the library, towards the building her class was in, when her phone buzzed in her pocket. In one fluent motion she pulled out her phone and pressed it to her ear.
"Hazel?" The familiar voice of Frank said. Just by hearing Frank's voice Hazel smiled. She hadn't seen him since he left Camp Half-Blood to go run Camp Jupiter a few days after the war ended. They had Facetimed, Skyped, called, and texted a lot but that wasn't the same.
"Hi, Frank," Hazel answered into the phone. Her heart rate had already increased and she bit her lip softly. Her eyes flicked around her as she pushed open the door and made her way to the building.
Frank's voice softened and Hazel knew there was bad news. He was supposed to meet her at Camp Half-Blood over Christmas Break for Christmas. The whole gang had decided that much. He was actually supposed to land a day early in Vermont, where she was studying, and then they would road trip down to Camp together.
"Listen," He told her in his 'you should sit down' voice. Unfortunately, Hazel was walking and had no where to sit down. Frank continued, "I've got some bad news, Haze."
"What is?" Automatically, her mind flashed to her friends or Nico dying in horrible ways. Percy, ran through with the sharp tip from a sword fish. Annabeth, bookshelf fell over on her. Piper, visiting her dad when she accidentally stepped into an explosion scene on one of his movies. Leo, slipping on ice or freezing to death. Jason, falling into the ocean. Nico, looking into the light directly. She wasn't sure how it would've happened, monsters or accidents, but she knew that it could happen.
"Nothing with the 7," Frank responded. Almost instantly, all her worries flooded away like quick sand. Until, she heard his next sentence. "It has to do with my trip."
Hazel frowned. Deep down inside it seemed like her heart was deflating. She pushed back the tears and nodding. Then, forgetting that he couldn't see her nod, she choked out a word that sounded like 'what.'
"I know, I know, I'm hurt too. Its just that all means of travel at Camp Jupiter have been rented out to get to family. And, this freak storm is supposed to hit so everyone's leaving early. I tried to book something on a mortal airplane, but all flights were canceled because of this weird blizzard coming our way," Frank explained. Hazel could practically see the frown forming onto his strong face. She could see him in is Praetor outfit, his hair in its normal military haircut. His eyes melting into a chocolate brown as he announced the sad news. Gods, she hadn't seen him in so long.
She let out a sigh, "Wow, a freak storm hitting California, huh?"
"It sounds crazy," Frank agreed, "You just got to trust me. You can look on line and everything. Reyna got a new pegasus and she was going to lend me her after all the travel options were rented already, but then she saw the storm and she refused to let me go."
