In an alternate universe, in a whole new place, or even planet, there was a big bustling city. One that was gloomy and boring in the daytime, but bright and colourful at night. The sounds of loud vehicles passing by would be buried under the sound of it's habitants laughing aloud and having a good time. But there's a difference here and there, and that is the people that lived there weren't normal human beings. They were animals, anthropomorphic animals, of different kinds that came together to live in this city. And this city was called Metropolis.

However, Metropolis was surrounded with large metal barriers that kept the people from interacting with the outside world. No one was allowed outside unless it was for digging up resources and the like. The people weren't the most happiest during the day, and in fact, it was just as dangerous at night. Though the city was once a wonderland of different forms of entertainment, it had now been taken over and fear had been struck in the hearts of the people.

But there was one hedgehog, a blue one, that was determined to free everyone and return that freedom back to the right place. A hedgehog that went by the name of.. Sonic, Sonic the hedgehog.

Sonic was a wee little baby when Metropolis was taken over, and grew up with his uncle. As he grew and changed, so did his surroundings.
At first, he dismissed them and thought of nothing but himself, but soon enough, he realized this wasn't a good change at all.

A dull, cloudy morning came around. The city was up and working, no one was allowed to sit around on their bottoms doing nothing. The blue hedgehog wasn't excluded from this rule, of course. In fact, he actually has a job to do. Though he grew up with no huge expectations, he had to do what's necessary to keep himself alive.

He got up, got ready and immediately headed to work without a second thought. He bought some chili dogs on his way there and that's all he needed.

"Mornin', Sonic." His uncle greeted as soon as the he entered his uncle's workshop.

"Hey, uncle Chuck! What'cha workin' on?"

"Oh, it's nothing.. Just something to fix." He responded with a sigh, wiping away the sweat on his forehead. He'd set down his tool before approaching Sonic, who had just finished eating his food.

"You're always working.. don't you ever get bored? Don't you wanna do stuff you've never tried before?"

Sonic asked as he jumped onto the table and sat down, wiping away his dirty hands on his body. He leaned over and looked at whatever his uncle was fixing, quickly losing interest.

"We can only do so much, Sonic. The city's surrounded with walls and there are robots guarding everywhere. Even if I wanted to.. I can't. It's a bit too late now."

His uncle replied, shaking his head while he looked down at himself. He sat down right in front of the hedgehog with a loud sigh escaping his lips.

"Come onnn, uncle Chuck.. you're not that old! And besides, we could get out if we tried. I'll get us out there someday. I'll make sure you see the outside world!"

With a determined grin, he jumped onto his feet and placed his hands on his hips. And soon, he dashed outside to do what he usually does; run around and do whatever he wanted.

His uncle would warn him about the guardian robots walking around, keeping an eye on every corner of the city, but it seems like Sonic was able to handle it all himself and didn't really need too much rescuing. But someone that does was his good pal from when they were younger; a two-tailed fox that went by the nickname 'Tails'.

"Taaaaaillss! You there? Let's go find something to do!"

Sonic yelled from just outside where Tails lived. It took him awhile, but eventually the fox opened his door and greeted the blue hedgehog.
