Only At Night

This has been a long day

EDWARDS PERSPECTIVE

Living at my old room again feels strange in a way that you feel sad and weird at the same time.

I visit my dad at the cellar and my other dad every morning for a roll call of the regular duties. Its all crazy, selling drugs, debt collecting,  threatening,  always armed for my safety.

I never have to worry about this with Jades uncle. Oh Jade, just three days apart and I miss her already. My feelings for her are mixed. I'm angry at her for being a drug addict,  I hate the way she's been distant since I left her house, I miss her terribly,  I might have feelings for her and generally I'm intrigued  by her. But then there's Eden. He might not admit it but he has feelings for her too. I can't just let him take what is potentially happening between me and Jade but then Jade seems to have some sort of feelings for Eden. Its like a sort of fetish I guess.

Before my mind can go any deeper I hear a knock on my door. I stand and opened the door. My brother stands infront of me with a straight face.
"Need anything Eden?"
" dad wants us to join him in a bargain with the Ed wardours. "
I sighed. "Do I have a choice?" I ask rhetorically and grabbed my jacket then followed him down stairs.

Our body guards filled us in on what we're bargaining on and why. Turns out Jades grandpa wants more money for his services to us. He provides security at the border and supplies heroin to us and he only gets twenty five percent of the income we sell. Thats not even a fair trade on the suppliers side. But the amount we pay for just one van exchange at the boarder is unbelievable.

So we head out to a warehouse  just twenty  minutes out the highway amongst the farm feilds. We entered and the first thing I saw was Jade seating on the edge of a window with a
Mexican looking boy drawing something on her palm while she stares into the distance. She's wearing a black crop top,  ripped jeans that make her legs look dangerously sexy and a black hoody. After me missing school today I feel like I just wanna stare at her and how her blond curls cascaded down her back just marvels me. But its never this strong like now.

The Mexican boy taps her and she turns straight to me. Her eyes freeze at me.
After a minute she smiles her usual smile and turns back to the boy.

I'm not the jealous type but the way she looks to that boy just ticks me off. We gather at a table and I turn and regret seeing the Mexican boy carry Jade down from the window to the floor.

"Jealous,?" I turn and see Eden eyes me.
I roll my eye. "No , we are here for business." I respond bluntly. He nods but stuffs some muffled chuckles back into him.

Mr Ed wardour starts with his offer and why he wants a change of payments.
Apparently  the boarder security has been tight because of a group of hustlers who steal from the wealthy opposing as a cleaner,  maid , or potential assistant. Anything to get their hands on the wealthys credit cards.  Eden jumps in the discussion.
" The payments you want is higher then what we sell and make before new orders are brought in. "
"Then double the price. You can't go more then tripple because one bag costs of Heroin is 25 thousand which each is divided by five grams is five. Five packs cost a thousand each. Double all that or find ways to make other distributors buy from you." Jade adds in.

Everyone starts to consider this then my father says. " yes we can do that but we have few buyers to double the price. Either we get more to sell or try to find potential buyers."
"Mr Moore, security is tight at the boarder. If we bring more in it will take
Two loads. We are protecting you and our loads along with your people individually." Jade elaborates.

"If it's a problem Mr Ed wardour?" Mr Moore says and eyes Jade,  Jade rolls her eyes.  To my surprise Mr Ed wardour turns to Jade for her answer.
"The agreement is that you double the regular price and we provide the exceptional security. I've seen the list of buyers and the cash flow. You lie that you make the same amount but you double and get a 70 percent of the profit. Now let me ask again Mr Moore, do you want the security or not?"

My dad looks irritated and says. "Very well." I turn and look at Eden. He glances over to Jade and winks. Oh how they're so used to such environments.
My dad leaves early and I'm left with Eden and our body guards to discuss on
Precise operations with the Mexican kid.

Jade returns to a group of men and starts giving instructions. Why's Sam not here doing this. Turns out the Mexican boy is Jades partner and all I'm thinking is that where is the sweet and innocent Jade I knew.

We walked out the warehouses and Eden and me decided to take our own car with our body guards tagging behind.

Eden stares at me and says. "Look who decided to join the party, and how did she get her hands on our buyers list?"
I shrugg. " I'm just surprised she's even in this mess you call business."
Eden sighs." She has no choice, we maybe enemies but we grew up together with the same environment. She was lucky because she had a father and mother who were good people. You wouldn't understand because you are a coward, you left me and her. I'm filling for the both of us and she is filling for her big brother and mother so don't think we wanted this."

Wow I didn't know they felt this way about the whole thing.

We drive back home and dinner is ready. Father must have already ate and I decided to check Jades uncle if he had any food. I go through the cells and come across to dads. He seems to be sleeping. I look closer and see a fair amount of blood plastered on the floor.
I start to panic. "Dad! Are you alright?"
My mind start playing scenarios of him being beaten.
"Edward, is that you?"his voice sounded hoarse and he started to cough.
 
"I warned you not to play around with me." That voice sounds familiar.
"Father,?" I ask. He walks out the shadow. "If you leak any information to that pretty little bitch I'll kill him." I shake my head. " I didn't leak any information father." He raises his eyebrows. "Well check your brother and every god damn people working for us, we must uproot the weed before it destroys the garden I've built."

He turns and leaves. I stay with my dad and minute or two then I hear a sigh.
I turn and see a female figure in the shadow. "And whom might you be?" I ask. "I'm that pretty little bitch." She says. What!
"Jade, you can't be here". I whispered harshly. "No, you can't be here or else it will look like you helped my uncle escape." Said Jade pushing past me and started to pick the lock. "You can't escape, they'll kill you." I try convincing her. But shes done with the lock and starts to help my uncle out. Before I could say anything she buds in. "Shut up and leave. Stay and work for your father I'll take care of him. The only reason my uncle is being treated like an animal is because of you so play along."

I think this through and silently make my way upstairs. This is has been a long day.
