A week later:
Blue and yellow. Complementary colours. Always together. We used to be like that..
I shake that thought aside as I walk up to the counter of Ino’s flower shop.
“Morning Naruko. Nice choice in flowers.”
“Good morning Ino” I mumble back
We exchange fake smiles as I give her my money to pay for the flowers.
“Are you ready to go, the others are waiting outside”
I nod as I hear the faint bark of a dog. Akamaru.
Ino gets up from behind the counter, revealing a long dark kimono and for once, her hair is tied up revealing darkened blue eyes, matched with long black circles from lack of sleep.
“Nightmares?” I ask quietly.
Ino stops and nods.
“Yeah. You too?”
I nod back. Every day since the fire.
“It’s just that I feel so horrible. I was so mean to him, and you. I wish I could turn back the clock.”
Ino turns to me and suddenly puts her arms around me.
“I’m sorry.”
I hear a muffled cry as I put my arms around her, just as I feel a single hot tear fall from my face.
