I've spent the last week in the studio with Finneas, recording new music, and it's been a shit show if I'm being honest.

"Finn can we cut recording for today. My heads not in it right now." I ask him.

"Yeah sure. Go home get some rest, see you Monday?" he asks giving me a quick hug.

"See you Monday." I say before taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly. I just need something good to come of today. I text Mac.

B
-hey mamas. When is your shift over?-

Mac 💙
-45 mins-

B
-good imma pick you up and take you on a date-

Mac 💙
-I'll take a quick shower in the attendings lounge-
-does this date require fancy clothes?-

B
-nah mamas, just your cute self-

Mac 💙
-well you're getting them because I still have my overnight bag in my car-
-see you soon-

Oooo she dressing fancy! Wait, does that mean I'm underdressed? Nah, my fits be fire. I need to kill some time so, I stop by the florist on the way to the hospital and pick up a bouquet and a box of chocolates for my girl.

"Ahh what's the special occassion?" the florist asks.

"Who says a lady needs a special occassion to be sweet on someone?"

"Honey, I wish more people were like you." she says with a smile.

I pay and make the drive to the hospital. I pull up to the entrance and wait for Mac with flowers in hand.

Oh my...

That dress.

Those curves.

I can't help but bite my lip when I see her. Her eyes light up when they meet mine.

"Hold up mamas, twirl for me" I say and she gives me a spin. Mid-spin I grab her waist and pull her against me so her back is to my front. I hold up the flowers in front of her.

"These are for me?"

"All for you mamas." I say giving her hip a squeeze before opening the car door for her. She takes a seat in my car and runs her fingers over some of the flower petals. I jog around the car and get in.

"So how was your day cutie?" she asks.

"Shit. But it's better now that I can spend some time with you." I say pulling out of the parking lot.

"Aww I'm sorry, do you wanna talk about it on the way to wherever we're going?" she asks lacing her fingers with mine.

"Just been a rough week in the studio. What set me off was when some fans asked me why I don't play the song 'i love you' during sets anymore... don't get me wrong it's a great song. I just don't like what it reminds me of..." I confess.

"The song was about Hayden, wasn't it?"

I nod, "It is. The mood that the question put me in, I haven't been able to shake it. That was, until I saw you today." I say with the first smile I've had all week.

"I'm glad I can put a smile on your face, by the way where are we going?" she asks. Just as she finishes her question I pull into a parking spot.

"We are having a fancy ass dinner here!" I tell her. She looks at the sign... "Billie this is a Taco Bell..."

"Yeah, and?" I raise a brow as I watch her step out of the car. She turns back and peers inside the car, "Are you coming, or are you just gonna stare at my ass?"

I chuckle, "Imma go with both of those answers." I climb out of the car and follow her inside. She takes my hand and runs her other hand up and down my arm, as she reads over the menu.

"Hmm what are you getting?" she asks.

"Burritos."

"I-... I should have known." she says shaking her head with a smile tugging at her lips.

We order our food and I drive her to one of my favorite places in LA.

"Billie why are we on the top of a parking garage?" she asks holding the bag of Taco Bell.

I grab her free hand and lead her to the edge closest to us, "This is why we're here."

"This view is spectacular."

Without taking my eyes off her, "It really is." I reply. Before she notices me staring too hard, I take the bag of food and unpack it, immediately taking a massive bite of my burrito.

"So, I told you about my day, or week rather, how was yours mamas?" I ask her in between bites.

"Mmm," she holds up a finger, "my week was good best work day was probably yesterday. We had a guy come in who dislocated the shit out of two of his fingers. Guess how he did it though..."

"How?"

"He apparently decided it was a smart move to catch a baseball without a glove. I'm surprised the impact didn't break them." she gushes excited about her work. I wish I got that excited about music. Things just haven't been the same...

"Would you still want to date me, if I quit music?" I blatantly ask.

She gives me a weird look, "Billie do you really think I care what your profession is? You could be a fucking garbage man for all I care, and I'd still be going out with you. For a few reasons, you're extremely selfless, you can hold your ground with my bitchy attitude when I'm on my period, and the bonus on top of that is you're kinda cute."

"Oof, I'm only kind of cute?" I say pretending to be hurt.

She grabs me by my shirt and kisses me, "Ok fine, you're really cute. If I'm being honest, don't give up on music. I realize, you're probably asking me this because you're not happy with it right now, but this instance of right now is not the same thing as forever. If you need to, just take a step back and figure out what you really wanna say."

She's right.

I need to find the right words.

a/n: what song ref do you think I'm going to pop off with next?
