"Say what?"

"But you look just as beautiful as he described, wow!" Lilian exclaims, clapping her hands together with glee, eyes sparkling.

"He?"

"Oh never mind. Come with me, I've got to show you to my mat- boyfriend." She grabs onto my hand and yanks me away in the complete opposite direction. This time, Gabriel had disappeared from where I had left him and I felt a little saddened that he hadn't chased after me.

She begins pulling me over to a group of people ahead of us, and my nervousness begins to kick in. She had such a bubbly character from what I'd gathered, I knew for a fact she was going to make me the center of attention. I look around for some distraction or aid, but to no avail, my knight in wooden armour has disappeared from the whole scene.

"... Guys, this is Nora." She gestures to me, pushing me in front of her. "Nora, this is my boyfriend, Caleb." She gestures to a tall man, with a friendly face.

"It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance," His smile is charming and he looks like a carbon copy of a model. His eyes are a striking blue shade and he has black hair with strands that fall over his face naturally. He definitely suited Lilian perfectly.

As do all the other couples that surround me, they suited each other well. My eyes cast over them briefly and I immediately feel out of place.

I'm introduced to an Erika and Reeve, a rather eccentric looking couple, and Olivia and Percy, who seem too infatuated by each other's existence to care about anyone else. I shift my weight from one foot to the other, taking a glass from the nearest waiter to pour my attention on.

"So Nora, what's it like working for Alp-," Caleb begins, until he's interrupted by the girl next to him, who I distinctly remember having introduced herself as Erika, splutters. She grabs onto Caleb forcefully and catches him off guard, dragging his weight down. Lilian is right by her side, patting her back softly with Reeve on her other, his eyebrows knitting together worryingly.

An arm snakes around my waist and I stiffen, until a friendly George sneaks out from beside me. "You sneaky little-,"

His eyes are shining with mischief and I swat his arm with my hand. Our attention is drawn away again by Erika's scratchy voice, "I'm okay," She grabs the glass from George's hand and chugs the contents down in one go before dramatically wiping her mouth with the back of her hand.

Reeve has a cheesy grin on his face and he leans in close to her, pecking her cheek, murmuring something in her ear that makes her blush.

When I do look away, as to not spoil the moment, there's a sight that plagues my mind. Gabriel in an isolated corner of the room, leaning over a girl's figure and whispering something in her ear, a smile spread across his face, while she sports a huge, seductive grin that contorts her whole face. From what I could gather, she had flaming red hair that cascaded down to her waist and matched the hot red lipstick that coated her lips. Her body is angled towards his and from their compromising position, anyone wouldn't think twice about the nature of their relationship. They looked pretty intimate.

A huge desire to tear them apart bubbles in my chest and my fists tighten around the wine glass in my hand. I gulp down the rest of the liquid and apply pressure from my clutch onto the glass, attempting to release the pressure growing in my chest. Before anyone can anticipate, a crack begins to form on the glass and just as quickly, it's broken into a thousand shattered fragments spread across the floor. The chatter around me quietens down and I find seven pairs of eyes watching me curiously.
