The second day started off equally as stressful. When Evelyn arrived at U.A., she was instantly bombarded by the press. Ignoring their questions, Evelyn strode towards Aizawa, who was leaning against the side of the gate.
"This is technically attempted breaking and entering, and harassment. Are you sure we can't just like... fight them?" She whispered, causing Aizawa to snort. Deciding to help out, he held back the press as Evelyn attempted to usher the students into class.
"Ma'am! Do you work here? Are you one of the new teachers? What's it like working with All Might?" A reporter shoved her microphone in Evelyn's face, hitting her on the cheekbone. She brushed it off with a smile, albeit a bitter one, despite the fire spreading across her cheek.
Evelyn tried to back away to the entrance, but someone had grabbed her wrist, pulling her back. Evelyn let out a small yelp. She tugged, trying to get away from the grip. Evelyn's senses shouting and flashing lights filled her senses, panic seeping into her bones. Suddenly, she had been pulled away from the mob and surrounded by warmth. An arm wrapped around her waist and the smell of cologne filled her senses, easing her anxiety.
Evelyn found herself in Aizawa's arms, who quickly released her and placed a hand on the small of her back to steady her. She quickly patted her cheeks, trying to prevent the blush that threatened to flood her face.
"Class is going to start soon." He grunted. The two turned and walked away from the shouting crowd. One of the reporters broke away from the mob and tried to run after them, only to be shut out by the security door.
She let out a sigh of relief before looking up at the scruffy man. "Thanks." He said nothing, his face as impassive as ever. But Evelyn could see the tiny smile that had appeared.
----
Classes passed by without any unusual activities. Evelyn walked around the classroom, helping those who struggled. It was a good opportunity to meet some of the teachers and get to know the students. Although, she avoided Mineta at all costs.
Finally, lunchtime arrived. Evelyn sat in the teacher's lounge, sifting through some papers. She hadn't expected so much paperwork, although it was far less than when she had worked at the hospital.
Evelyn had begun working in the Recovery Room. It was normally just her in the afternoons, as Recovery Girl left once she took over. There were also fewer students since most Hero classes were in the morning. Evelyn stood, preparing to leave.
"Leaving so soon Evie?" Hizashi sang, throwing an arm over her shoulder. "You didn't even eat! All I saw you have was that pot of coffee you guzzled as soon as you stepped into the room."
Evelyn smiled. "I'm not particularly hungry. Thank you for your concern though, Yamada." Truth be told, the thought of consuming food did make her particularly queasy, especially after several sleepless nights.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a scarf wrapping around her and pulling her back. Evelyn's instincts went haywire. Her feet spread, shifting her weight as she spun.
Her leg lifted, entangling in the scarf and pulling it toward the ground causing Aizawa to stumble forward. He released the scarf just in time to avoid the kick heading for his sternum.
Her eyes were wide, glancing around before taking a deep breath. "I'm so sorry, that was rude of me." Aizawa balanced himself, pulling his scarf back. The shock on his eyes was evident.
He grunted to shake off the embarrassment. "You should eat. You won't do your best if you don't have energy."
Evelyn brushed off her outfit. "It's fine. I'll eat something small later." With that, she excused herself to go to the Recovery Room. She let out a breath. She was in no mood to be force-fed, nor did she plan to start fighting with Aizawa.
Evelyn yelped as a loud alarm went off. Several teachers ran past her as she looked around in confusion.
"Hanako!" Aizawa ran past her, stopping momentarily. "That's the intruder alarm. Please get to the recovery room, we'll send any injured students your way. " And then he left her there.
Evelyn rushed to the recovery room, setting up equipment to prepare for any injuries. She looked out the window hoping to catch a glimpse of the intruder. Upon seeing the reporters, she hung her head and sighed in relief. Jeez, I thought some ballsy villain had decided to break in.
A couple of students began filtering in. Apparently there had been a stampede and several had sustained minor injuries, the worst being a wrist or ankle sprain.
With a wave of her hand, a golden aura surrounded the students. She didn't bother concentrating it since there were several. Better to just heal them all at once.
By the end of the day, Evelyn could barely stand. She was drained from using her power so often and had sustained minor burns on her hands. The one drawback of having healing powers was she couldn't heal herself.
---
Evelyn gritted her teeth as she stared down at her wrapped hands. The tapping of her feet filled the silent air as she walked home. Suddenly, Evelyn's nerves went haywire and she shivered. Something's not right. She ducked into a small cafe, ordering a strong black coffee. She glanced at the window quickly, catching sight of a blue-haired man in a sweater.
She thanked the waiter, sliding a couple of yen across the counter before walking outside. She shoved her hands in her pockets, keeping her finger placed on her phone, ready to send her location.
After trailing her for a few blocks he disappeared and she let out a sigh of relief as she stepped into her apartment.
Who the hell was that?
