Chapter 1

24 2 6

I wandered along the corridors of my new apartment, my face light up with a big smile.

After settling down on a chair, I took a deep breath of fresh air. It has became a routine for me: seeing the sky from the 30th floor, with the stars as my only companion every night, wondering about how my day went.

I blinked my eyes in confusion.

Why the hell was there two moons on the sky? For some strange reason many things are appearing as twins this night.

I decided to ignore it.

Today, I was proud to think how I had managed to piss my dad. A yawn escaped my mouth, I had just returned from the bar which my silly excuse of a best friend had dragged me to.

Being the CEO of a private company, my dad has some moral standards which I tend to break now and then.

Dad had advised me to not go to any local bars, thinking I would not be safe. I giggled, don't get me wrong, I obviously love my dad, but sometimes he behaves like a strict officer rather than a father.

You may have overdone it just a little bit by dancing on a pool. Just a tiny little bit ofcourse.

I shut down my inner voice before it could make sense.

What I did was needed to get what I want.

Also it was worth it to see the expression on dad's face when he found out though. He had turned red with anger and sent men to not let any reporters know about my silly adventure. He was more shocked however when, reporters started filling the place like bugs, taking photos.

I smirked, for my plan to succeed, I needed more audience, so I invited some reporters who was kind enough to turn up the offer of an anonymous tip.

After the incident dad had deposited me here saying he wants me to see him tomorrow at the office. I had smiled and waved him good-bye, completely aware what awaits me the next morning and he had said in a voice as cold as ice:

"I want to see you tomorrow morning, Ivory. We need to discuss about your behaviour." With that, he turned and left.

He probably knew that arguing with his daughter right then was not the right thing, considering how drunk I was with a satisfied smile plastered on my face.

I smiled now, I wanted to smile and dance and sing all night, but my body muscles ached needing a good sleep.

Drinking so much was probably not a good idea. So what? If a girl needs to prove a point, she should do whatever it takes, right?

But I definitely know that I wouldn't think the same by the next morning.

After some minutes, I found myself in my bed in a gorgeous red dress, my long brown hair in an updo style. I don't have to strength to change into night dress.

In my dreams, I found my dad chasing me as I jumped from building to building to escape, and running over rooftops. I swear it was the funniest dream I ever had.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Groaning, I searched for my alarm without opening my eyes. After some searching, I took my enemy in my hand which is still beeping.

How dare it try to wake me so early? Can't it see how tried I was last night and that I need to sleep.

Deciding the punishment for my evil alaram clock, I threw it accross the wall.

Thud! This was the third alarm clock in this week to get splashed by trying to intervene in my sleep.

I pulled the blankets closer, it's so warm and comforting. No one comes between me and my sleep, not even pizza.

Suddenly, I got up. My body feels so light and pain shot through my head making me feel weak.

Why did I again got drunk last night? This hangover is going to kill me surely before my dad. Then, I remembered all my plan and got up to get showered.

After 20 minutes, I sat on the sofa, freshly showered, drying my hair.
I sighed, atleast the asprin worked, now I can be able to stand without tripping.

I remember last night, dancing a pool dance, hips swaying to the rhythm of music and cheers all over the bar.

I prayed to God wanting what I think to be true. Please god!

Then, I opened my tab and searched last night's news. Ah! There it was!

Smiling from ear to ear I read the title: "Daren Gabriel's daughter seen dancing in a local bar"

This news will damage my social status, just like how I wanted. Then, no business tycoon's will try to make a move to marry me to their son, just to get a good status in economy.

I know that my dad won't force me to marry a stranger, but he would try to set me up with one. He is strangely worried why I still hadn't dated a single person, seeing I'm an adult of 21 years. It hadn't occured to him that I was not interested in relationships right now.

Nowadays relationship is really messed up, that I realised if I wanted to be happy and carefree I should be single.

Last week, my dad had set me up on a blind date with a CEO, for god's sake.

I groaned, I can't forget how I managed to make the CEO hate me. I talked and talked and talked so much that he got bored with me. Oh dear, the look on his face when he tried to confirm me that I was indeed the Ivory Gabriel, who his dad wanted him to meet.  The poor man was speechless when I started to talk about cartoon and movies non-stop.

I wiped the smile off my face now, I have to face my dad's lecture. Swearing, I went to the kitchen to find something to eat.

Just when I settled down comfortably on a cushion, pizza in one hand, the sound of the calling bell sent a shiver down my spine.

It's six in the morning, who will be stupid enough to come here. It would be clearly someone who don't know me, that's why they don't know I'm not a morning person.

Who will it be?  The question pondered in my mind as I took a few steps towards the door.

Thud!  The door suddenly burst open making me gulp in shock.

Can't they wait till I open it.  Now, the door was damaged.

My mouth suddenly experienced lack of air when I saw him.

Cold, handsome with a ridiculous smile on his perfect face, a young man stepped into the room, his hands tucked inside the pockets.

I stood paralysed, my eyes wandering over the stranger, taking in his form cautiously.

He cocked his head. " I hope we'd met under different circumstances.", Smirking, he took a step forward, studying the room.

"W-who are you?" I stuttered as I step back.

There's a large window beside me.  Maybe I could run.  But, what could I do, standing on 30th floor with no one to hear my shout, he would surely get me.

Noticing my confused state as I tried to get anything near me which could help me, he said in a grim voice: "Let's get this over with!"

My heart started beating faster.

Before I could even move a muscle the thing happened, which made my heart stop.  He pulled out a gun and aiming it at me, pulled the trigger.

I'm going to die as a nobody.  Not fulfilling my dreams of a world tour.

I felt defeated, and most importantly: I'm going to die alone.

The gun shot was the last thing I heard before I drifted off into darkness.
