'Because they're after me.'

The words echoed in my mind again and again as I stared blankly at the wall, watching Jonas speaking to the wounded man.  I watched, but couldn't hear anything, my heart pounding faster against my chest.

Breathe, I told myself as I leaned against the couch, my hands trembling.

My gaze wandered over the firmly locked door.  If I run out of here and went straight up to the cops, will I still be safe?

The wounded man flinched at something Jonas said, but I was still thinking.  He told me that the man was sent here to assassinate me.  The assassin had to be payed by someone powerful or a person with a lot of money.  My guess is a powerful person with a lot of money.

I glanced at Jonas as he picked up his phone, answering, his eyes still on the man.  There was such cold rage in his eyes.

I sighed, running a hand through my brown locks. Why the hell did Jonas, who I had never met before saved me?

How did he know when the assassination is going to take place?

I got up from, pacing the room.  So many questions.  I felt like my mind would burst into flames.

"Ivory," I turned around to see Jonas standing infront of me, his hands in his pockets. "I know you have many questions and before you ask me, no, I can't explain everything to you."

There was no emotion on his face as he said: "I want you to go to your bedroom and close the door."

That got my bursting nerves on fire. "What?" I took a threatening step closer.

He let out a sigh and get out his gun from his pocket. "You can stay and enjoy the show then." he purred.

I gasped as I saw him raise the gun to the wounded man's head. Still, the assassin didn't plead.

"I am going to ask you one last time," there wasn't any human emotion in his voice as he pressed the gun on the other man's head, "Who hired you?"

The assassin looked into his eyes and said in a cracking voice, "Y-you are going to pay for every sin you have committed." he lowered his voice, "They are coming for you." For a second, I swear he smirked at me, too.

Jonas stood, I noticed how his face paled at the man's last words.  He ordered me to turn around and close my eyes.  For the first and last time, I obeyed him.

Turning around, I kept thinking, oh my god, oh my god, he is going to kill him for real.

I felt bad for not asking Jonas to take this man to the cops, so that they could find whoever it was who hired the man.  But I couldn't--because even though I'm not smart, I know I'm not a fool.

I just felt like he won't listen to me, so I saved the embarassment.

'tock' . The gun shot echoed in my head, vibrating through my body. "You can turn now." Ignoring his voice I went up to the couch to sit, keeping my gaze away from the dead man on the floor.

I flinched a little when Jonas sat beside me, sighing.  He cleared his throat but I didn't turn to look at him.

"Ivory, I'll take care of the body, so you just have to not tell anyone of this incident and your life can be back to normal. It's as simple as that." Yet, there was a strange emotion in his voice.

I didn't say anything, what happened made Jonas as much as an assassin as the man he killed. I didn't dare open my mouth, so he continued, "I have arranged men to dispose the body without the knowledge of the security.  You don't have to worry about anything," sighing, he said, "This unfortunate event won't occur again."
