“But why?!” Echo laughed, the following morning, while eating breakfast with Felix. Apparently Felix didn’t like Matthew Scott.
Felix shook his head. “He’s mean to you…”
Echo suddenly looked as if she were about to burst. “What do you mean? He’s never-.”
“It’s just... the way he talks to you-.”
“He doesn't-.”
“He treats you like you’re a kid-!”
“No he doesn’t! You’re the one that should be treated like a child!”
“But-!”
“No!” Echo shouted so loud, it should have woken the whole bunker. “I know what’s going on here… you’re not being protective… you’re being jealous…”
“What?!”
“Yeah! It's so obvious that you don’t like Dan, and you hate that I’m spending more time with him and Matthew than you!”
“No, that’s not-!”
“You know what, Felix… Just… don’t…”
“Kiddo…” A voice finally spoke up from behind. It was the devil, himself. The man put a hand on Echo’s shoulder. She let him and this angered Felix.
Without another word, Echo went with Matthew Scott, leaving Felix worse than he was, before confronting her.
